New to saltwater just bought a JBJ 29 gallon with cf lighting

Well took my water to aquatica in Finley had them test it which it was perfect a little light on salt... .23 but he said I could grab a few hermits and a green Zoa frag which was 18$ and looked big and healthy.. So I did... We shall see how it goes its gonna be nice to have something to look at in there! And Rich I'm gonna give it a week maybe next Sunday I can come by and grab a small frag or two...

How good are these copods for my tank? Will fish feed naturally on them ect?

Next Sunday should be fine. I have a new shipment coming in on Tuesday so there will be a lot to choose from. PM me when you have one more post and ill give you contact information. I also have some leathers and hairy mushroom you can have.

after all the different things I tried I think the best set-up was/would be probably blue/white filter pad cut to size on top, purigen in the middle and then either chemipure elite or a carbon/GFO mix. You will want to change the top pad as soon as it gets browned up and the chemicals according to bioload and liverock. I tried really hard to run a chaeto fuge in the middle chamber and it just seemed to collect more detritus than it burned up in nutrient uptake. You want to be able to pull that media rack and clean it regularly too. There are a million different ways you can set it up though, so you'll most likely have to experiment with what works best for you and what you ultimately plan to keep.

This combination has worked well on my nano too

So my zoas seem to be looking good... Salinity is .25 now which I think is right for what I'm trying to do.. What should I be feeding them reef snow or something like that in small doses? They are all healthy and open. Running lights for about 7 hours with a hour of moonlight before and a 2 hour moonlight after they shut off before total darkness.. Temp is steady at 78. I ordered some purigen as well and bought some filter pads I'm going to remove the sponge and add that stuff once it arrives..

I upgraded the lights on mine to grow a wider variety of corals. But that should be later. Start slow and enjoy the ride.

any insight on the coral feeding and lighting schedules? thanks for all the kind offers im already planning on building 40 breeder with a sump to take place of my 75 gal freshwater setup in my family room... if any of you guys have reccomendations on equipmet for that setup lmk..

In terms of equipment recommendations, I think it really comes down to what you want to do with the tank. The types of coral you would like to keep, or if you are leaning towards a fish only setup, all makes a difference in terms of what is required or recommended. Come up with some basic ideas, and I am sure people will be happy to share their opinions on the matter!

this will be a full reef setup... hoping to grow lps and sps corals looking at the 120p coral compulsion led fixture for it... glass holes 700 gph overflow.. im really confused upon which skimmer will get the job done and how big my return pump will need to be ect... time to do some searching...

Pics of it today. Aded a chromis cleaner shrimp and baby 1.5" tang to grow out /qt for my 93 have some months growing and a ton of zoas from kratos and some frags I've had for a while to that are sprouting new polyps.

On another note it looks like the tang has ich. How screwed am I and are there any treatment options as is with my coral and if I transfer coral to my93 is it bringing ich with it ? Can I dip it ect I'm not happy

Nice zoas. For the ich, soak your food in garlic and hope for the best. You can try to catch the fish and move to a qt, but the stress of moving may kill it.

Move the coral to the 93 gal. Treat the tank that still has the fish in it with Cupramine. The ich won't survive in the coral only tank because it will not have a host. The copper will kill the ich in the fish only tank. After about a month, you won't have ich in either tank and you can move everything to your 93. Just do a lot of Google research before attempting this and make sure your copper levels are high enough to kill the ich, but not so high that they kill the fish. I've attempted to get rid of ich many times in the past, and this is the only way I've been successful. Good luck.
