New to saltwater/reefs

If you think it is tough waiting now, just wait until you are cycling the tank! Most mistakes happen here when people add livestock or coral too early or overload the tank too quickly not allowing for the bacteria to adjust to the new bioload.

I didn't see anything about an auto top off in your thread so far (could have missed it though). There is nothing quite like not having to add top off water yourself to the tank 2-3 times a day :).. This is the one I purchased and couldn't be happier. Connected it to a aqua lifter pump. http://www.autotopoff.com/products/DS1/
 
I looked at a few top off systems but they were pricey. This will work great! I never would had thought to look at autotopoff.com. It's funny how that works, lol it's much to obvious for me to figure out. Thanks I will order one and a pump. I was thinking I will use a five gallon jug we have for camping for the RODI. I cycled forty pounds of rock over the last several months in a tank in the basemen. Its a glass 55 with a heater, protein skimmer and power head, I will transfer that to the main tank then use that one as a quarantine/hospital/jail tank.

I use a dual switch ATO from autotopoff.com connected to a MaxiJet pump. It works well and it was inexpensive. My ATO container is a a 5G jug with the top cut off to make room to insert the pump.

Dual switch is really the way to go. Not much of a price difference for the additional piece of mind :)
