OT: Being a CR Supporter

I have noticed many members are supporters and I feel left out :(

Would like to know from the supporters if they are happy with paying the fee to support CR?

I know you get a shirt and your PM box gets bigger.. Are their any more benefits like discounts to our LFS or sponsors apart what the public gets, giveaways or any CR actives..

I'm just trying to see if my hard working money will help support CR and have great benefits from it.

I know CR is not big like other forums, but love to help and build..
 
I dont mind supporting the community site that I use daily. I didn't get a shirt, yet. There has been 1 giveaway which if I recall was for both supporters and non-supporters. You'll get a discount at most places just for mentioning or saying you belong to the forum. The supporter part doesn't play role, if it does, I have yet to see it.
 
I like the expanded PM box, to me it is the biggest benefit as I receive a lot of PMs. Plus I feel good to support this site that I've been a member almost since beginning.

+1, that and "no ads" were the 2 perks IMO that made it worth the $. I do agree though, that for the number of people that did pay for sponsorship, it would probably generate enough to have at least a quarterly something or other for us. We've (supporters and non-supporters) grown this site and we've seen new sponsors who would probably be more than willing to raffle something off for the community, so I think we're just missing someone to coordinate it. I'm sure Mike is busy with his own life, but maybe he should appoint someone for that position?
 
for me, $20 was a no brainer. By the time the opportunity was presented to contribute, I had already received extremely valuable information in a way that I could digest it. I read on other sites. I get my questions answered here.

I also like the expanded mailbox and I use this site daily. I donate alot of money to different charities in Chicago, but $20 is a tiny bit of change for something that gives me great pleasure, allows me interact with a great community and make friends, and gives me access to really useful information from other experienced reefers who know way more than I do about this hobby. I spend more on Hazelnut Lattes each week than a year long supporter fee for CR.

We don't get discounts at LFSs for being a supporter, but we do get them at most for being a part of CR. We are automatically entered in the giveaways and we get access to The Hidden Reef. That's entertainment worth more than the $20 membership fee.
