View attachment 12548

this is an iphone pic but if you see one of the polyps has completely lost its green and others the brown around the mouth is slowly increasing

my Nitrates are 0 and phosphates are 0.2 ...

lighting ... 4 whites and 8 blues ..

im totally out of clue as to why its happening ..
ask away any details and ill collect them for you ..

Paly mafia where are you guys

In all the reading that I have done I have the belief that paly's and zoa's will have more vibrant color with high intense lighting along with dosing with vitamin c and b-12

Not true .. zoas palys when acclimated to high light gradually will get better color but this case its almost 50 watts running on 8 gallon tank so the question is can high light cause this damage ??

can too much light cause palys to brown out ?? according to my understanding high lighting would cause fading of colors but not browning..

They might not be getting enough light. Looks like the other polyps are slightly browning too. Try moving them up higher in the tank. Too much light will cause them to fade to almost white or pale.

Not getting enough light really doesn't make sense to me

They are 5 watt whites and should be enough light even on the sand bed ..

They iced back saying might be from light shock and that makes more sense to me .. No idea what that light shock actually is ...

imo, if they were getting too much light, they would be closed to protect themselves before turning brown like that.

Hmmm that's true too :(

I'm lost .., totally lost

What else can I do, but. Increasing light doesn't make sense as I said that's too much light as far as I know ... Isn't 50 watts of light little too much for that tank

Are you using RODI ? If so is your ph stable and around 8.3?
The skirts are not extending are they getting any flow?
They can handle high light so I doubt you have to worry about too much light.

Yes, I use ro di water
Flow is mp10 .. I decreased the flow assuming they are getting too much flow.
Ph wavers between 7.56 at nights to around 8 when lights are on ...

I sometimes use FLUVAL SEA ALKALINITY SUPPLEMENT ...very little when ph drops lower

Hard to tell from pick whats going on but I have had them for a long time and never saw them discolor like that.
Hope they are recovering. As long as they are open thats a good thing.

4 5w whites and 8 3w rb is total of is 44 total watts. Your right at 5.5 watts. I would decrease lighting schedule a bit and raise it as high as u can. I know you have been through allot lately with your other lighting failing and the complications with the new jbj unibody. You went from 6 total leds to a par bulb for a week and now two weeks later twice the intensity. I'm surprised they aren't totally bleached. I'm hoping your tank settles in cause you have some sweet palys coming.

I would have been happier If they bleached, that would be easy remedy lol.... I'm optimistic what ever these palys are going thru is a result of my light issues and bears no effect on the new ones if acclimated properly ( sand bed to rocks and top ...) Hopefully

I've fried some Zoas under LED's. Right now I even have a Gold Torch that is bleaching becausing of to muc light and it's on the bottom, like Matt stated bring the light intensity down a little bit I would even move them to a shaded area and see how they do.

You guy's are all wrong :nono: j/k

When you purchased them did they look nice and pink? Since I'm trying LEDS I have seen a few things during my trial of errors and improvements…lol!! Using LEDS is not easy unless you hit the sweet spot, which results have been rewarding for some.

Brown palys or pale is lacking in light.. In some cases I have seen this with T5/MH/PC bulbs not being replaced in a timely manner but this is not your case. Now don’t move the frag right away under the light. It will have to be moved slowly to get adjusted and not blasted. Hope this will help you!! Now don’t expect results within a week Tin as this will take time.

If they are open and not closed you are doing great!

Probably just need more light and a little bit more flow.. I usually keep my zoas and palys in - little intense light and they do just fine..

Yes and they looked like that in my tank also .. they looked awesome and had 2 babies in a month (not saying it good growth)

then they went thru my light debacles and pooof :(

i have been extremely unlucky recently with my tank :(

They looked like this when he took them home...
