Party in your Tummy

the bubble column dropped. but it does that with regular food. dont remmber how long it took to go over the cup again tho. im about to clean it tonight get a good test goin with it. see if pulls more/less than usual

Thanks dude. most of them stay by the rocks and stuff. it was a bad angle, didnt want to put the tripod on my bed. guess ill have to take a video where i point out as many as i can :boink:

i didnt want to buy any frozen, trying to get the freshest stuff i can. not that anything is really fresh in chicago.... i only chopped it a tiny bit seems to work pretty well. anything to big just goes to the nems.

Heh, too true - the freshest things here are lake fish... Which while I'm sure our fish would eat, I'm also pretty sure I don't want to feed them FW creatures. I went with the frozen goods just because it was cheap and still better than the frozen premade stuff. I think next time I will supplement it all with some non-frozen cheap fish. Last time I was at one of the asian markets they had some live abalone's for $4 each. Was tempted to just buy it and put it in the tank, lol.

On a side note, if you are making your own, often times our seafood comes doused in chemicals and antibiotics to extend its shelf life (including the non-frozen stuff). I give it a bit of a soak in some rodi water to help clean it all off.

Video looked like the fish were all quite happy though! And as long as they are healthy and happy... :)

def nothing of FW origin. i rinsed everything. especially the Deli meats. was pretty clear when i stopped, used like half a 5g bucket of ro/di rinsing just the deli stuff. it is cloudy when i thaw it out because of all the meds and selcon and everything. more than the chemicals im worried about parasites from the raw seafood. it doesn't really freeze solid because of how fatty it is either. kinda like shaved ice consistency, seen alot of people using gelatin to kind of hold it together, but read that gelatin is bad for fish? idk, so i figured as a nem tank, food going everywhere would prolly work best anyway.

Hahaha, I like that idea - food for all! It looks great, and I know what you mean about the cloudy rinses, its kind of shocking the first time! Definitely a fan of making your own though, and its so easy too!

after about a week or however long of using this, the skimmer has produced a lil less skim that usual, idk if thats from the food. Because ive been doing rather large w.c this week, a 15g in the DT and a 20g in the sump, on top of my daily 1%, so the results may be kind of skewed.
