Purigen regeneration ?

I think you have to use bleach to rejuvinate them right? I would let it dry completely and then rinse it really good and let it dry again. Just my opinion.

I am lucky enough to only need one pack so I just replace it.

Never let Purigen get dry. After soaking overnight in bleach, I soak again in Prime & toss em back into the tank. You can keep regenerating them, until they don't get white anymore.

How often do you regen them? Do you wait until they go brown, or just cycle them every few weeks?

And to thread-hijack, what about chemipure elite... My gut tells me this stuff doesn't last the 6 months it claims to, and yet dealing with it the first time, it made such a mess that I am leery of buying more...

if you use chemi pure it will last a few months. but the gfo in the elite version runs out within a month, possibly faster depending on how much its sucking up

Yeah, that's why I was wary of it... I think I'll just go back to looking for a bag with a mesh fine enough to hold the GFO I have and run separate bags of carbon and GFO.... Or finally following through and just setting up the right plumbing and a real sump for that tank...

Hmmm, looks like you can't let the stuff dry out because the little beads will crack?

I could have sworn it was dry when I open up the bag. I'll have to pay attention next time.

Just what is chemipure anyhow? I assumed it was just carbon.... But it made one hell of a mess when I opened the bag, and the bucket I washed fines into is still stained black.... Currently I'm running Chemipure elite, Purigen, and extra carbon, along with filter floss (but that stuff clogs so quickly, I wonder why I bother...?) in my cube, and most things look content. (Except for the snails........)

Cut the ziptie on the chemipure bag and refill it with your own carbon/gfo. Bam cheap chemipire lol. That's. What I do now

When you buy it, it's dry. You may notice it getting hot, the 1st the 1st time you wet it. If you let it dry, it will start absorbing stuff out of the air. I read that somewhere...
I regenerate them when they turn brown.
