Who’s ready to hang out with a bunch of fellow reefers at Shedd?! WRS (Wisconsin Reef Society) ChicagoReefs and a few other reef clubs will be having a Shedd day.

When: April 18th 2015 (Saturday)
Where: Shedd Aquarium
Who: Anyone and everyone
Why: Enjoy all Shedd has to offer with some fellow minded folks.

Price: The cost for going would be $26 for Adults 20 years or older and no cost for those 19 and under (limit one child per adult).

What you get: This is a total experience pass and includes the aquatic show and the 4D experience. This does not include any of the other aquarium tours; ex. behind the scenes, penguin experience etc. If interested in these they will need to be paid for separately.


The BackStory: A fellow reefer and Shedd donor from WRS has been gracious enough to setup a reef club meetup with special group pricing. The invite to join was passed onto CR, MARS, NWIMAC and others. Being home to Shedd and knowing how many of us enjoy shedd, let’s get out, shake off the winter cold and enjoy for the day.


To be eligible for the Group Pricing:
1. Either I or another TeamCR member will collect ALL admissions fees for CR and pay the day of the event. The other Reef clubs will have a similar designated person. (Individual entry for group pricing would causes a tremendous burden on their staff)
2. Everyone has to enter at the same time. We cannot have people entering at different times. (again to get the group pricing)
 
Let's start it off with a poll to gauge interest. We need to share with Shedd how many we can expect.

As it gets closer we'll work out the details of time, fee and contingency plan.
 
I'm always down for a visit to the Shedd. Although last time I went I was slightly disappointed, I see better setups at some of the CR members' houses lol.

I thought the same when seeing the shedd dart frog setups... It goes go to show how much people can put into a hobby, to be better than a large public aquarium!
 
I'd like to do the meetup - I'm actually getting ready to coordinate something with NWIMAC (only on a much smaller scale and over a period of several trips). I don't know what my work schedule will be like yet, though. Plus the group pricing won't apply to me and mine (I'm currently a volunteer so get in free).

Sounds great Carole. The more the merrier for the April trip if you can make it. Spread the word with anyone from NWIMAC that you were talking to, everyone is welcome.
 
Just got an update on possible number of attendees. We might be storming and taking over shedd :sparta-lol: Between the couple clubs the total may be nearing 50 people. Who else wants to join for a trip? Let's blow the doors off.
 
I was there yesterday. They seem to have a pest anemone taking over many of their tanks in the main display area. They also have the separate reef section which changed since the last time I was there. Had an awesome section on sustainability coral growth and distribution.
 
I was just informed things have changed a bit. We now need to prepay, I need to collect money so it can be paid to shedd by March 18th. It's pretty short notice, so I'm tagging those who posted above and PM'ng everyone who's shown interest. IF you are still interested or for any one new, you can either post in here or PM me and we'll go about collecting funds.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it, I am moving into my new place that weekend! Thanks anyways Josh
