Smitty's 37gal reef

Come by anytime Rene...i picked up the sump from one of the members on the site here(jrodriguez)...and it cost me roughly $200 from start to finish to get it up and running.

So, I'm tired if fighting with this bryopsis, so I'm gonna try a blackout for 2-3 days. I just turned the lights out on the tank and covered it with a dark blanket...but I left the sump/refugium light on. So in a few days, I'll uncover the tank and do a nice water change. Wish me luck. :)

hey Smitty,any update on blackout?

Hey Peter...the blackout didn't do anything but make my sps's lose some color, but the bryopsis didn't go anywhere. I'm gonna try raising the mag to kill it off.

Alright ladies and gents, update time. I've been keeping my glass lids on the tank so I can get some more fire fish and possibly a goby, but that traps too much heat, keeping my tank at 84°...so today I built a screen top using clear plastic mesh,( thanks Tom(goat) )and some aluminum window screen rails. Now, nothing can escape, no light lost, temp stays constantly at 80°, and great gas exchange. Here's my progress.

Just building the frame.

Picked up this guy from aquatica, with an assumption that he was a sea lettuce nudibranch, but now I know he isn't. He's not touching the bryopsis at all. Anyone know what he is?
