Smitty's 37gal reef

Well, I just turned my lights back on, they've been off since Tuesday, and performed a 10 gal water change....now we sit back and watch everything recover. I also ordered a nice size cuc online and it should be here today to get rid of the rest of this lingering algae.

I just got my package of cuc from reef2go, and they're currently acclimating. Hopefully they can take care of business, because my tank doesn't look happy right now.

Sorry to hear you've been having problems Smitty. I'm sure you'll have everything back to normal in no time. You have one of the nicest and mature tanks I've seen.

Thank you...I think I did very well about not stressing over it by knowing this hobby has ups and downs.

algae oh no not u tank man it got bad. did u go complete dark for 3 days to get rid of it . ive been told it works good but u gotta keep all light out usually by covering tank which scares me.

Unfortunately,I didn't cover it up this time, just lights off for the 3 days. Yeah bro, there's a good amount of algae, but between the 10 gal water change I did and the cuc, hopefully it clears up. I'm thinking of running some phos guard too.

I picked up a bunch of blue legged crabs, a few red legged crabs, cerith snails, nass snails, and some turbo/astrea snails.

Oh ok---I have all of those guys already. Picked up sea hare today---he is one nasty looking critter. I guess he is the brown trout of the Cuc family.

After moving from my 90 to the 40, I had some GAH sprouting up, that turned into fields of it. After 2 weeks of dosing vodka and a soft bristle tooth brush, it's almost all gone and the rest is dying. My corals also look noticeably brighter in color.

That's cool Joe...I'm just dosing Kent m magnesium and using the toothbrush. I also do water changes every 2-3 days.

Here's a few pics I snapped real quick...just to show the condition of my reef after the massive die-off, algae outbreak, high salinity fiasco.
