Yeah, and I'm running out of daylight to do it. I might just have to wait till tomorrow. And my help is leaving. So, my house is going to smell, but it's gonna have to wait....
Update! Sand and rock are all cleaned. Sump is hard plumbed, and water is being added. I placed my sand and rock before I added the water so it wouldn't be stirred up so long. I used my external mixer. Anyway, at least the tank will be filled up tonight, but I might need tomorrow to get the sump running. Here's hoping fish in a few weeks!
Sumps up! Plumbing is holding strong. Officially starting cycle. Looking for help with that actually. I have some feeder shrimp I was gonna throw in there. Should I let the skimmer and carbon run while cycling or no? I've heard conflicting stories.
Personally, carbon is cheap and you just had poisonous chemicals in your tank. I'd run a pound of carbon to be safe that the toxins are totally gone. In a regular cycle I wouldn't waste the carbon, though.
Well, those chemicals are hopefully completely gone, which is why I scrubbed my rock, rinsed all my sand, and dried it out, then rinsed again. pH is good, which was my biggest issue before.
