So this afternoon the gf and I stopped by aquapro's and decided on the new tank and put a deposit down on it.

Marineland 120 gallon reef ready with a deep blue 48x24in stand.

Deep blue stand looks awesome and is a great price. Comes with 2 doors on the front with a center brace/design that's not removable. However, the right side opens up allowing sump installation and removal.

The stands in stock but the tank is being ordered. Hopefully the tank will be in on Friday.

Equipment list Coming from my old tank.

Eshopps r-200 sump
Sca 302 skimmer
2 wp25's
Quiet one 2200 return pump

Lighting I'm going to give t5's a shot. I have a 4ft 4 bulb fixture with 8 new bulbs I got in a deal last year so it's not going to cost me anything to try them out.

who makes the fixture... might want to find a 6 bulb fixture of a 24" wide tank 4 might not be enough

Fixture name off the top of my head I can't remember. I agree a 6 or 8 bulb would be beneficial but for testing purposes I'm going to try the 4 bulb.

Maybe I'll do the LEDs and the t5's. 576 watts worth of t5's and LEDs lol

nice! aquapros has sweet deals on glass!

yea they do, Couldn't find a better price. Hell even if it was slightly more then someone else I would still buy from AP. I showed the gf the 75rr, 93 rr cube and the 120 stand with the 60 gallon deep blue on it and she really liked the stand so that was the deciding factor (i almost went with the 60 gallon deep blue rimless but i wanted more water for more fish.

Update: tank and stand are in my apartment as of yesterday. Having a busy weekend so no progress since than.

I am at my moms house where my 5ft 120 still is. Decided to see if the t5 fixture works and it does! Put it over the tank and it seems very dull with a green look to it. Not sure if it's the bulbs or what.

Looks like 2 blue, 1 white and 1 purple. Not sure on the exact bulbs.

Could it be color combo? Old bulbs?

I have a package of 4 new bulbs in the garage. Not sure exact colors, I guess I'll swap them out and see.

Also this is an odysea fixture with a single reflector.

Tank and stand are in their final spot

Starting on the plumbing today, trying to decide which way to put my return and drain.

Drain is 1.5in but reduced to 1in and the return is 1in. Both bulkheads are therefore 1in allowing me to put either or in either position.

With a single overflow I can put the return coming out the side or the back of the tank.

Is one better than the other? How would you put them?

I had people over on Sunday so the GF wanted water in the tank so decided to do a leak test on the tank itself and its good.

I just picked up sand from AP yesterday and hopefully today I will have time to get the sump out of my old tank and under the new one.

With a relatively small bioload and not many coral, how long will I be ok without a sump on the running tank? I plan to use DR tim's and LR from current tank to do a quick cycle.

Salt is being mixed as we speak,

Tomorrow sump/plumbing will be finished along with adding sand. At that point their will be 4-5 pieces of live rock in the sump.

Sunday the plan is to move LR/fish/coral over to the new tank.

Usually all live rock should prevent a cycle but I will also be using dr Tim's.

All coral will be dipped before entering new tank. Never seen pest in the old tank but it's better safe then sorry

Nice job Steve...Can't wait when it's filled up...

Thanks Mai,

All the salt was disolved this morning, Didn't have a chance to check salinity but I did 2 reef crystal bags which should be good for 100 gallons and I have about 100 gallons in it. I'll check salinity when I get home.

When I bring the sump over tonight I plan on bringing the water I empty with me.

Salinity is reading at 1.025 in the tank and I see no visible salt left. YAY

After dinner I will be going to grab the sump. Already have everything I should need to finish the plumbing.

Not painting, I left enough room in the back to add a vinyl backing if I decide to.

Right now I'm going to leave it without a back paint/Vinyl
