Tank crash

I'm having a similar problem. Over the past couple days my acans and trumpets have taken a turn for the worst. Some of my zoas are also no longer opening up. I tested the water and everything looks normal so I'm not sure what to do. I think I'm gonna do a pretty big water change this weekend and see what happens.

So is it all gone Mark? I noticed you're selling your Apollos and say you're going to take a break from SPS.

About half of my acros are gone.Few colonies seems to be doing ok.My montis and LPS are fine.Yes,I will be taking a break from corals for a while and go fish only, that is why I am selling my Apollos.Don't need this bright light now.I will be posting more corals next week for sale (LPS,SPS what's left,Clams),just want to see if they will do ok for a week.I don't want to sell corals that are dying.

Mark - sorry to hear about your loss. Must be totally disappointing and frustrating. Let me know if decide to get back into SPS and I can give you some clippings as I should be well stocked by then. Hang in there and enjoy the fish for now.

Well,I finally figured out what happened.I ordered a new Salifert tests after my crash, and found out my ALK was at 15. I did test with Salifert test and API test that I have at home ,little over 1 year old(but the expiration dates on both show 2013) and both showed my ALK at 7-8. Lesson learned, use only new tests, less than 1 year old.I stopped dosing ,will let ALK go down slowly and see what happens next.Very few colonies survived, they lost their color too,but will try to save what I have left. All my LPS and clams still doing great.

That really sucks Mark. Do you think the dosing pumps got out of whack?
If you want I can come over with my Hanna (Alk)Checker and test your water if you need something to compare with. Le me know

No ,it wasn't the pumps.Old test showed wrong Alk level,so I kept dosing according to that test.I did not know that I was off by this much.Like I said,I will not use anymore test kits that are older than one year.

Had some time to remove some of my dead colonies. This is about half of what is gone.I still have 6 others dead in my tank.Need to remove rock to get them out.
