Here are some tips that may help with keeping a better reef.

Tip 1: Record Your Water Parameters - Create a Microsoft Excel document and start charting this; it will help you keep track of changes in your water parameters which will help you maintain consistency. If you are dosing supplements, it may help determine the quantity of how much dosing you need; and whether you are dosing too much or too little.

Without knowing your initial water parameters, it may be difficult to determine how your dosing of supplements impacted the water levels and therefore, hard to adjust accordingly.

Tip 2: Dose Accordingly (if you dose) - Dose according to how much you need. Record your dosages also; so you can analyze the effects of change from your initial parameters, and then determine the right dosage amounts. Microsoft Excel is great to keep track of your dosages.

Tip 3: Inspect Your Tank - Visually inspect the tank to make sure everything is working properly. Skimmer working properly? Fish healthy? Zoas healthy? Disease? Infections? Parasites? Aptasia? Equipment Function Properly? Enought Water Flow? Coral Colorations? Better Placement? Clean equipment?ETC ETC ETC.

Tip 4: Clean The Glass - After I clean the front and side glass of my tank, I feel more envigorated about having a tank. It looks so much better and so much more nicer to look at. I think keeping a clean tank will make motivate you to maintain the tank well.

What tips can you add to make a better tank today? Even if its obvious say it because it's motivating and reminding.

Water changes.... Frequent decent size water changes are huge for your tank and considering what we pay for some stuff in this hobby is relatively cheap...

QT. If you don't already do it, look into possibly doing it in the future.
