Tired of this **** cat...

I'm really getting tired of my gf's sickly a$$ cat. I like the cat, but don't really care for it sometimes because she's mean to my kids when they come over. For the last month now, the cat had been throwing up it's food, and then she had a really bloody stool, so we took her to the vet. $300 later and a prescription food and pills later, the vet couldn't find anything wrong. Now this morning, she started having the bloody stool again, and I just went into the kids room, and she has crapped all on their carpet. She throws up wherever she happens to be sitting at the time (on our bed, on our dresser, the kids bed, the window ledge, etc.) I'm really getting tired if this, and I'm the one who cleans it most of the time. My gf doesn't have kids, so the cat is like her child, but I'm about ready to get rid of her(the cat, not the gf)...am I wrong?

Explain to her its unhealthy for your children to be around bloody cat feces and vomit. Children before pets man.

I agree...we're gonna have to have a serious discussion about the cat. I believe it's just a matter of time before the cat dies from unknown causes.

Kick the cat lol and tell he the fish are enough

Hahaha.. I'm trying to be nice and understanding about her relationship with her cat. I even hinted around getting her another kitten to replace the cat.

The liter box literally smells like something has died in the house. I had to place extra air scents around the house.

I don't like cats much yeah I'll pet one pic it up make it follow a laser point for hours on end but not keep as pets. Are you allowed a dog in your apartment? Pets like that are a big responsibility she should know that they require lots of care and attention. Let's just not get another bleached tank tho.

Hahaha...yeah we don't want another incident like that. But yeah, I care for the cat, but the frustration comes from the gf not really taking care of her responsibility like she should, and it seems like it's become my responsibility (since I'm home all the time), but just like you, I don't mind showing it attention every once in awhile, but I didn't want it as a pet, or the responsibility. And nope, no dogs allowed on the property.

its hard but something needs to be done, i have a bland/deaf 15 yr old dog that something needs to be done about. but after 15 years its hard to just put the to sleep. even if you can tell they are falling apart

I'm sorry to hear about your dog...and the funny part is, her cat isn't that old, about 3 years old I believe. So she really shouldn't be having these issues at her young age.

As a cat lover myself - I think its time for the Kitty to be put down. Bloody stool is NOT healthy. Cats.(along with other animals) wont show pain, as a defense mechanism .. so it might be very painful for it without you knowing.

I'm with George - kids before pets.

Tell her all of this and then like you said get a new, healthy kitten.

I like your thinking, but too much blood...and I carry a ruger. :)

Kp95 what what! :p

Seriously that cat does not have a good quality of life. Since animals can't help us diagnose their issues, there comes a point where the only humane thing to do is end their suffering.

Thank you for your input Cecily, I appreciate it. I agree with you, so I'm gonna have a talk with her about it. I know she's torn between keeping her and getting rid of her, so I'm trying to help her care for the cat, and see if the cat gets better, and if not, at least she saw that I tried to help the cat and getting rid of it wasn't my first decision...so there won't be any regrets.
