Vinegar Spill

IHaveCrabs - Thanks man! Really appreciate that! Only a few zoas (barely anything to get in the work tank) survived and a small fragments of galexia. Everything else melted. I'm going to do a 100% water change, have to stop @ Aquarium Adventure for water, and get the bio/bac with live rock & sand from then work tank.

Excellent, if you want to stop by at some point and pick up some frags to get you started, just PM me!

Sorry to hear this buddy ..

but if you nuked the tank with venegar .. i assume its like hiroshima right now .. you killed pretty much the bacteria also .. so its safest to empty tank and dry rock before you start over again ..

and consider this a chance to get things done better .. take it slow and do it goood ;) in 6 months you will forget this even happened ..

Sorry to hear that man. But yes like tin said, u probably better off drying up all the Rock again to get the vinegar out of them. I would rinse them, probably bleach them, dry, rinse, rinse, rinse, dry and the probably start over. That's a lot of vinegar that went into the tank.

I'm not far from you, if you ever have something even remotely similar to this happen again, I keep at least a trash can full of mixed/heated water here at all times. There are always spare rocks in the sump if you need some seed rock.

There is also 200lbs of dry rock in the garage if you want to go with a whole remodel.

Thank you all!
troublemaker - I think I am going to break down my 15 and move it to the house as an emergency tank. I could probably use some seed rock once I get the algae bloom knocked out. Did a 100% water change, boiling fresh water baths on the rock. Top layer of water had a nice thick fleshy layer of algae on it. After scooping that off, it smelled like a morgue without an AC unit. Now just running an air-stone @ max for a week. Ill get some new ChemiPure and Purigen in her next week.
