Whats a good starter anemone?

Jeff says they are a new line coming out from JBJ. The actually look pretty good... but their transformer and dim controls are pretty large...

yeah thats the only thing.. it has the controls and its pretty big.. and its kinda tough to hide but the lights a pretty powerfull

i thnk i'll probably get the PAR38.. price wise its better then 350..lol but yeah i wonder if it could be dimmed..

I might have my PAR 38 set up tom, I'm waiting for it to get delivered. You can check it out when you pick up some sand.

pufferpink, do you have one of the maxi-mini anemones? I've never seen them before (though at this point there's a lot i haven't seen). I think i'll have to add them to my wish list! Thanks for sharing those.

Before I even read Puffer's thing I was thinking mini-maxi as well. They are super easy to keep but just beware that they have been known to eat fish sometimes. I have one in my 150 and it never has but in a smaller tank I am thinking it may be more likely to happen. Something to think about

They eat fish, they don't host clowns (well, RARELY), they sting corals, they like to walk....pretty much all of the bad parts of anemones built into one neat looking package.

Haha I was trying to be nice about them but YEAH 100% correct :). I kinda have a bad attitude towards all anemones lately. Sometimes I feel like they are more trouble then they are worth.

Being nice about a product, fish, etc. while your heart is in the right place will only get a future new hobbyist into trouble. My philosophy is to always speak your mind truthfully on here. It's better for everyone.

I agree, however I put a positive light on the mini maxis cause if you really wanted to keep an anemone (and clown hosting wasn't an issue). They are easy to keep IMO. Sooo I was being very honest. But hey, I am an optimist, and new to this forum (not looking to ruffle feathers :) ). I love offering valuable information while also including the risks.
