Kinda funny coming out u mouth . I been running reef for ten year useing same instant ocean hydrometer
If you feel like that was a personal attack, I apologize. It was intended to mean that a hydrometer was the sole method of testing water and these people wonder why corals and everything else is dying. It was more or less in reference to the person I know who consistently kills tangs. He has no test equipment other than the hydrometer. He throws fish and corals in every weekend. I finally got him to stop using tap water and buy a dual brs reactor. His nitrates were ~100ppm. He mentioned the other day that if anything else dies, he's going to freshwater. So, this topic was relative to a situation I am familiar with.. On the swing side, my IO hydrometer is off by .003 vs a refractometer. Luckily, even if you are off, if you maintain the level, you are fine. Call me crazy, I just like to "know", rather than "hope".
