Poison Dart Frogs - my build and general info

On a positive note as well, my wife caught one of them in the water a couple days back. Knowing they don’t swim well and with the deep water, I added all the sunken wood to limit how far they’d have to swim. Worked like a champ. She watched the little frog struggle for a minute wondering how to save it if needed, but it soon found a wood perch, using it to jump back onto the moss.

Time to add those Juli Cory cats! A nice little school of these guys would be awesome and they are a great CUC:

Oh, I'm looking at it for future. I'm really thinking of adding a eheim ultra 65 first. I don't want to worry about bioload and the canister will ensure it. I also need to pickup aquatic plants at this fall's tinley reptile show from glassbox.

pH has been floating between 5.1 and 6.3. It's low at the end of a 2 week period in between WC. The water is still picking up some tannins from the wood, but it is far less than when it was new.

These tannins are annoying the crap out of me in my little tank. Do you have any experience using Purigen or some other media to clear them out? The filter pads have carbon but that doesn't seem to help.

Hey I'm really going to have to come over and pick your brain on this!!! LOL
Let me know when you have sometime for me to swing by one day :)

I come down to check on the PDF and hear one of the ventilation fans making a noise. Pull the plug and WTF. One frog not only climbed all the way to the top of the vivarium, but then got through the metal grate while the fan was off. To be killed when the fan kicked on. I'm left speachless... WTF.

Thanks guys.

The frogs are little, but to fit through the metal grates is seemingly impossible. Here I was worried about them drowning... Now I'll try and fatten the other 3 up as quick as possible. Pudgy frogs can't fit.

mini-update: The 3 little guys appear to be 2 males and one female. Her girth is the tell teal sign, but still no calling. I'm trimming the plants almost weekly to keep them in check. The sensitive plant surprisingly has seeded itself several times. I use the cork bark fountain/tube to easily root both the philodendron, pepermoia and Thompsonii. Also added an more common large sized orchid. Lights are out, so no picture updates.

Habitat looked killer yesterday. Also frog looked cool eating a fly, don't know why that was SO entertaining to me, but it was!

Thanks Dan, glad you and your son are enjoying. Was pretty cool to see it on the glass and couldn't pass the opportunity to take a few cell phone shots.
