40 breeder. Am I done before even started?

Yes. I usually get the dual pack of primer and glue. I wish I would have gotten clear primer instead of the ugly purple. And yes glue and prime everthing.
and this is why unions are a huge help incase you need to take apart . only part i did not glue was the top part above the T.

i hate ball valves i used on my first bean animal and was horrible to dial in . gate valve makes it simple . i didnt use unions, wish i had after gate valves tho . .

I totally agree the basic ball valves blow, but I wound up buying True Union Ball valves and they are much easier to dial back then the basic ball valves...and considerably cheaper than a Gate valve and two unions....

For everyone who is interested in this I want to let you know that probably for more then 1 week nothing will happen… I ordered some glass for my baffles and overflow box. Glass shop is swamped so it will take them at least a week. also I ordered gate velvet and returns Jets from BRS also will take few days. also higher quality silicone for gluing overflow box. So I will take a break but for sure will let you know when progress will be made… :)

Ok. I'ts been a while but I got so busy with staff in my house. I replaced my roof and Furnace and Air conditioner so I didn't have much time for my project. But I gather all my parts and finally did it. Not all done yet but close. I need your advice, please take a look and let me know if that will work ( I hope it will, all glued already) No big deal if I have to change something but I rather not… ;). Also let me explain. I will find some way to protect fishes and snail from going to overflow. I went easier way and just put Emergency Line in the middle ( fuge area) since it won't hurt anything and really should stay dry anyway. No sand in the huge so it will still work in case Emergency ( I hope right?) I put Gate valve only in Syphon line since that's the one that I'll have to tweak the most ( gate valves are so expensive but they work great). Return Line split to 2 corners. Return line is not connected since I don't have pump yet. If you approve all above then I need few more things from you guys so me and others can learn more and avoid costly mistakes. 1. How do O make that Open Channel line. Drill thru PVC Cap, what about Fitting and line? 2). What return pump you guys recommend? It will be easier corals, softies, maybe hardier SPS. ( The whole point of downgrading is to kind of do less ) 400-600 gal/hour? Enaugh? Maybe you guys have something for sale. I really want something quiet. That's why I did Bean Animal overflow. Will see…

Hi everybody. For all that followed my building thread when I decided to downgrade from 125 to 40 gal. This is a little update. Tank is running for 2 hours finally. I still need right Return Pump ( for now running my back up for 125 Mag 12 dialed down) and Skimmer ( not sure which I'll need). I might have a buyer not for whole set up but all Livestock. So I will sell equipment after. Last pic its how I started downgrade... Thanks for all help. Art.

oh yeah, and a beananimal overlow too.To answer your previous question, 4-600 gph overturn won't be enough for many sps, unless you add a powerhead or two, but should work for many softies.

Thanks. I will order tonight DCT 8000. That should be more then enaugh. I can always dialed it down.Only bad thing is that I might have buyer for my all livestock. I made few Frags so I can move it to my new tank. But this one won't be ready for a while...I just started with 60 pounds of Liverock. Won't avoid cycle...Don't know what to do now to save few old Corals for me... :(
