93 gallon rimless cube build

Well I added a snowflake clown and 10 hermits some zoas and a green candycane coral frag yesterday. All seems well everything's opened up and the candy cane has its teeth out on a few heads. Clown is still bashful but I'm assuming it will take some time for him to open up and feel secure. Pics soon

Got the fuge cycling tonight anyone have recommendations on a light for it and where I can get cheato please let me know I'm also gonna fire up the reactor but I want to run gfo and carbon how do I arrange them in the canister it's a BRS reactor with maxijet 1200

You'll want to place the gfo in the first canister, since it'll get more flow and can get a good tumble..and then place the carbon in the second chamber so it can get a more gentle flow.

Dude!!!!! looking amazing. I am really digging the rock scape. Ask around or put up a looking for thread. Tons of people give away chaeto all the time. as for bulb for the fuge, I just use a 6500k CFL bulb from Menards on a $7 clip on fixture, also from Menards.

I also use the Menard's cheap fixture, with a flood light LED 5k bulb and tossed the metal dome. I'm growing red dragons breath as opposed to cheato and my fuge is almost filled with it in less than 4 months. You do not need an expensive bulb to grow macro algae! Tank is looking great!!!

thanks guys i'll hit up menards on the way home! how long do you guys keep the fuge light on for ? 6-10 hours a day? same interval as tank lights? If any of you guys wanna toss me some macro algae I wont say no :) also i'm trying to only run one reactor. Is it possible to do carbon and gfo in one tube? also the gfo granules look so small that they may pass through the screens included with the brs reactor.... what is the foam for that is in the tube when it comes from brs? .. I'm doing some searching but haven't found any solid answers I'm probably overthinking this like I do with everything else thanks for all the support guys!

Grats on the fishies! I hate being the QT advocate, but QT QT QT!! ;) As far as the GFO, I would think it would be messy to try and mix with carbon, might try a micron bag or maybe someone who has done that will chime in. I personally use a Brightwell product called ExtraX-Phos and it is easily combined with carbon in my 1.5 liter reactor. I also run my fuge lights at night for a reverse light schedule to help keep the ph up overnight. I drop about .15 ph every night. Some folks leave them on 24 hours a day, I have at times, but do not really see the point... Tank looks great though!

Go to brs go to the reactor you bought on that products page they have a link for instructional videos they will tell you exactly how to mix gfo and carbon and what the sponges are used for and how.

Also at the top right corner of every page you will see a link called reef calculator click that and it will help you determine how much gfo and carbon to use for your size tank.

Soooo I've been contemplating selling the stand tank and sump stuff and building a 125/180 since I'm loving this so much. I really want more room for corals and fish... I'm torn on which to choose but I have a brand new 180 sitting wrapped in cardboard on my pallet racking at work... The only catch is that it's not a reef ready tank soooo I don't know what type of overflow setup I'd run or how to do any glass work... Suggestions guys?

Thanks
Glenn

Haha this tank looks so sick. I can't wait to see the 180! The aqua scape is rediculous!
