A Pledge for No Hate on CR

I use my aquarium (and other hobbies) to escape my extremely stressful professional life. I grow weary of so much animosity and divisiveness on this site (and the internet/world in general). Some of it is unavoidable, but I think we may be able to make a commitment to each other to just do one thing; Stop and think before you hit submit. If you’re mad, count to 10 before you hit submit. If someone is rubbing you the wrong way send them a courteous PM. Think about rookies and old ladies that might be reading this. Remember that body language and inflection are 80% of our real communication tools and both are removed here. Treat every other reefer like they are your buddy in this or if you just can’t stand someone, ignore them. There are people on here who are absolute marine aquarium ninjas and there are some complete idiots. There are people with 3000 posts and there are some with 0. In my opinion there is no correlation between the two, but the fact that we all have access to each other is amazing. I've been a member since December and I have learned volumes and I hope to one day return the help (and the great deals and empathy), but this won’t grow and flourish if we let interpersonal squabbles drive away new blood (rookie or otherwise). I am not trying to preach here, and I certainly don’t think I am above any of what I am referencing, but I am going to make a personal change and make the most positive decisions I can for CR in general from this point forward.

Like Michael said: “If you want to make the world a better place you got to look at yourself and make a change, you got to get it right while you got the time ‘cause if you close your eyes, then you close your mind, shamo!”

So: I Herbie swear and commit to be cool and awesome to my fellow reefers whenever possible and if I get sad or mad, I will still be cool. I will remember that CR is like a family (you don’t get to pick who the members are, but you have to hang out sometimes).
