Well this is how the tank is currently sitting

Sps all have great polyp extension but horrible growth. Need to get new test kits and figure out exactly what's happening with the water chemistry.

Other than poor growth all coral seem happy and healthy. All of my fish are fat and happy so im really happy with the tank right now. Theres a few more small fish id like to get before I start buying coral again. Hoping to start getting alot of my inverts also

I wouldnt worry about growth since u kinda just restarted takes sps while to recover and be happy and grow once tank settles in they will take off

You just make sure you get your tank issue fixed so you're around when I need to restock sps. You got some beauties I was eyeing last time I was there

Well cyano and snotty brown strings are all back. They were gone for a couple weeks but back now. Added gfo and changed carbon. Really should change some water and syphon the sand. Probably going to order some vibrant or whatever it's called and some other items for maintenance like filter socks and more gfo. Going to see what I can do to get the chemistry back in line and see if i can get this stuff gone for good

Sorry to hear that. That stuff is rough.

Seems like both Joe and I were able to get rid of it with vibrant and a blackout. I'd recommend dosing vibrant a few days first and then doing the blackout giving the bacteria time to take root and then take over while the dino/cyano crap isn't getting any light.

After that stuff and the blackout, it took my SPS a month to recover and start coloring back up.

Let us know how it goes.

When Ive had problems with this stuff in the past, I gravel vac really frequently (every other day or so), limit feedings, run GFO, and make sure your skimmer is tuned properly. When vacuuming the sand, I do it into doubled up filter socks in the sump to avoid having to do water changes so frequently. Also, a couple of water changes wouldn't hurt.

Dare I ask: are you using that RODI system you bought a while back?

Well i mounted all of my frags to get the rack out of the tank. Got a flipper from Glenn for xmas. Ordered more filter socks so I can't start actually using them, also ordered kalk to start adding that to the ato again, and more gfo to see if i can help get the water clean again. I've lowered feedings and havnt noticed the snot coming back as much. Really need to actually syphon the sand and see if i can start cleaning it up. Got an Xbox one for xmas from the wife and its actually really helped my reefing mood. Before I was just letting the tank run on autopilot and didn't care and now that I've had something to take my mind off reefing for awhile ive really gotten back into it.

BTW anyone with xbox 1 hit me up.

Well cyano is starting to fade again looks like I'm on the right track. When I get some time I'll clean the back glass and scrub the overflows

Cleaned the back glass. Need to change out carbon and gfo soon. Finally running filter socks again. I don't miss changing them all the time but the water is looking clear
