Biocube Zoa Machine

Let's start with; I have never liked the look of a biocube. After seeing a rimless one I put it on my to-do list. I aquired a used, rimless, and plumbed biocube 29. The tank is drilled from bottom. I plan to see no wires or plumbing. I'm going to do a large display refugium underneith.

Equipment will include a RKL, mp10, hydor seltz L30, hydor 200w inline heater, gfo, and carbon reactor 80g Skimmer(not too sure yet) and DIY jbj unibody pendant(considering a viper clamp on).

I'm not sure on the livestock as far as fish. This will be my largest tank yet, so I'm pretty excited for some new faces.

I would love some suggestions or comments; I'm still pretty new @ 2yrs reefing. Thanks for looking.

A few pictures before the sump and plumbing. My plan is to diy a sump outta glass. Some of you may recognize this tank. Here are some build pics.

Wow you're going all out on this tank...it's gonna be epic it sounds like. I like the rimless look also. Can't wait to see it come to life.

Sounds exciting Matt. After owning a BC I can say I miss mine. They are neat in the fact that they are indeed cubes and are nice and deep. You just have to find the right spot for it since to me they are kind of bulky. Either way this should be a fun build to watch. I'm going to take you are going to go Z and P dominant according to the title? :p

it looks ready to me just add water and watch nemo float. lol new tanks are a lot of fun

I still need a sump, Skimmer and the reactor. I'm going to do a mini build and writeup on sump. I'm just waiting to purchase material. I could plug it up and start cycling.

Just finished buffing the glass with cerium oxide and cotton wheel. 80% improvement. The deeper scratchs are lighter and the others are gone. Took about two hours, but very worth effort.

She's wet! Added 9 gallons from my tank and a friends to cycle. Sand is finally settled and filtered out. I added some rubble from my Nuvo rear chamber. Im gonna pick up some more live and dry rock soon. A bottle of bio spira and a couple squirts of azox to get the party started. I've cycles five tanks and usually get it done in 4 weeks. I'm not trying to stuff lots of lr this time. I'm thinking of more of a minimalist aproach rockwork. Time will tell; I change my mind often. :)

WOW! Nice doodle off to the side of the tank! LOL

:)

Thats a really smart way of cycleing the tank! Small tank in a larger with a HOB.

I put the small tank in there so I could use the hob. It has no other purpose than a support. The tank looks better now that its less cloudy. Im only cycling with 9 gallons cause its a waste to cycle fresh made water. I'll add a few gallons after each waterchange from my other tank. I finished the plumbing yesterday. Nice and simple.

Picked up 10lb LR from aquatica and filled the tank completly using new and waterchange water. I was hesitant to but I wanted to see how much back siphon during power failure. I also added a bottle of bio-spira. The tank is crystal clear. Looks great. I found that a marineland model C3 will fit nicely.

This is the biggest tank I've had running besides that 38 cube that I hated. I want a jawfish, but what else you guys think?

Looking good bro. How much sand do you have in there because jawfishs' need a deeper sand bed. I think a nice wrasse would look good in there.
