Biocube Zoa Machine

caution about adding a jawfish ..

they are awesome .. but jumpoff the tank at the first chance they get to ..

Added a nice 7lb pieces of liverock today. A hermit came free. :). I tested my water today and I have a faint amount of ammonia, nitrites are high and nitrates are reading as well. I have learned what color is bad and don't know the measurements. Looks like I'm half way. I expect to read no ammonia or nitrite in a few days. I bought good lr from aquatica.

After a 50% waterchange I'm ready to start stocking. I'm unsure what lighting will be best. I'm thinking of getting a 150w viper MH. I still don't have a sump and I think I might just get a plastic bin to fit under there till I feel like building one.

Have you considered going LED? I have a setup installed in the hood of my Biocube and I >>>LOVE<<< them.

BTW, is your tank a Biocube or Nanocube? My Biocube has the water coming out of the filter on the left side as you're looking at the tank, yours appears to be in the middle.

The overflow slits are on the right. It's a biocube. I'm only thinking of MH for the growth and color in sps and palys. I feel my sps wash out under LEDs.

I would re-consider the MH if you're going Zoa dominant. Too much light imo for them. I really don't have a recommendation on the lighting but I personally wouldn't do MH.

I added the first fish today! I returned a heater to Petco and found this lil jem. $39.99 Its been in the tank 40 min and is already eating. This little guy seems to have blue between the white and orange. Very cool looking in person. Im excited.

Thanks Steve. I think i got a pretty good deal for this fish. I dont qt so i make sure that the specimen looks perfect, acts healthy, no markings and is feeding. Im thinking of partnering it up with a BW clown. After lots of thought and research I might go with Par bulbs. After seeing RedDevil's build i feel these will give me the ability to focus on curtain areas of the tank. Two of the coralcompulsion par 38 with the goosenecks.

+1 def go with PAR 38 bulbs bro.. it'll be perfect for your tank.. Go with jimmys new spectrum PAR38 bulbs or his new vibrance reef light bulbs.. they will look sick in your tank man..

Lucky you! That's a very nice clown! That's the kind of things I look for when I go to Petco but never seem to come across them! I guess the Petco's around me suck a bit. :(

Congratulations on that awesome fish...he looks amazing.
Let me know if you see another one just like that up there.

Great bulbs and mine is outdated, I can only imagine the colors and spectrum of the newer ones.

Ill ask the GM, Jeff if he can order more. After offering me a job; that i politely turned down he told me that Petco is pushing Snowflake Clowns. He said that was the third pair in the last two shipments. Im a regular at this store and they have given up on coral. Thanks god. They added more flow to the tanks, sand and have a chicagoreef operative working there. There fish look better than I remember. Unfortunately the other Snowflake clown to my clown was put in a different tank with lots of aggressive fish. He was laying on his side panting. My clown was in a tank with just a Scooter Blenny and some snails, but i saw them together the day before. She is looking healthy tonight and that awesome blue is gonna look even better under those par bulbs. Unfortunately ive been spending money on other things lately and it will likely be a month till they show up. :)
