Brandon's 65g RR upgrade.

Its been a long evening but I got a lot accomplished and I wanted to share my work for the night.

First I built my screen top.

Then I placed my sump (built by Fishbeard its a 29 gal glass tank with .25" acrylic baffles siliconed really well great craftsmanship and i especially love the new bubble trap design he came up with and a huge ten gallon fuge) in the stand and did all my plumbing. 1" drain split to skimmer section on the left and refugium on the right with unions and ball valves. 3/4" return PVC with union and ball valve from my Mag 7 Bubble Magus NAC3.5 EHEIM Jager 200w heater.

Rinsed my sand with ro/di water and laid my sand bed and mounted my powerheads.

Looks great! Especially that sump ;-) that rockscape looks even better with sand in the tank now!

Do you plan to run DI water straight to the tank and fill/mix salt right in your system? I did that with the 180 and worked well, but one bit of advice if you do that way, is keep a soft sponge or filter floss handy and occasionally wipe your glass gently to get rid of the scummy buildup leaving rings in the tank while filling. I found as beautiful as the seaflor sand is, it's a pita to completely rinse out, and no matter what, you have dust left.

Thanks guys! I hope to fill it up tonight or tomorrow. Depends on the Blackhawks game.

Going to Mr. Walt's to get some of his live sand to seed my tank. Oh BTW Rafi Torres got hit with a 25 game suspension for his hit on Hossa. I called that three days ago. Three strikes and you're almost out. Love it!!!

Well today was the big day. 4/22/12. Yesterday was a very trying and eventful day but the Hawks did win. So today I filled my baby up and everything is running nice and smooth. Its still a little cloudy even though I rinsed my sand really well but that's to be expected. Also added live sand and cheato from Walt's tank and live rock rubble I had in the fuge of my 40 gallon so hopefully the cycle will be short. Just a little ghost feeding to feed the good bacteria and off we go. LOL. Now on to the stuff you really want to see, THE PICTURES!!!!!

That sump fits perfectly in there. Is there any more room under there for other pieces of equipment like a reactor, doser, controller, etc.?

A controller yes maybe a doser definitely not a reactor which means I have a brs reactor available if you still want it. Also the filter sock holder wouldn't fit how my plumbing is but I can slide a sock up the PVC and rest it on the top lip of the tank so I'd like to hold onto to some or all of the socks if possible but you can have the holder back if you want it. And if and when you get that apex I'd be interested in your heater controller.

Keep them all. I have no use for them and u'll need them to clean up the cloudiness. :-)

Of course I want it!! I can pick it up when I am out there next week to help carry the tank in.
