Busted!

First it was "I am only keeping corals so getting rid of all of my nonreef safe fish" and then it was "I am not keeping corals since its so hard to take care of them so getting rid of all my smaller fish". Now I think he is somewhere in the middle again since he hasn't gotten rid of either and maybe trying to utilize sales from both fish and corals.

Why not let him get his 4 post in per month, then stop them from there on out. What he does on craigslist is his own business not ours, and our forums shouldn't be saying "you use CL to so that counts against your post here."

My 02 cents. I don't care if he sells a million fish out of his house, if he stays within the rules of 4 FS post then let it be. The sponsors of this forum pay to get their own section and to not compete against others in a general for sale sections. It's like having a store front vs selling at a flea market. It's all about exposure and you already limit that by the number of FS threads he's aloud to have/location of post.

Just to be clear, I don't think people should run a business out of their house like this unless prepared, and if it's a true business then he needs to pay the expenses one takes on by having the business. My post is more about fair enforcement of the rules, which it seems everyone bitches about here in this forum.
 
I think Steve was just pointing out that the reasons he is selling fish are not actually the truth. He's telling folks on here something totally different then what he's using as an excuse on CL. He's protecting the community.

I don't doubt his intent, but if you read the two post, this is not a good example. His post are both with the same implications.

If he was a normal contributing member it'd be different. But when 98% of his post are fs post/threads he's not contributing, he's abusing
 
I don't think its that he sells on here like other people do. I think its that ALL he does is sell.

A lot of people sell on here but at the same time, they contribute and help out. There are a selected few who JUST sell. There are sponsors on here who paid that don't post ads as much as he does and even some sponsors help out too in other sections.
 
Point stands: Rules are to be enforced equally.

If we don't enforce them equally who is to say who gets to break them, turn a blind eye, enforce them, or not get favored.
 
Well technically he hasn't broken any rules. According to him, he is only posting the same fish that he's been trying to get rid of since forever. I don't really follow his threads, so I'm not sure what exactly he is selling, but trust me, the mods are aware. I'm too busy hunting down gifs.

I think what folks are annoyed with are his stated reasons. If he's lieing, folks don't want noobs getting duped by someone like that. If he has a track record of lieing just to get a sale...who knows what else he could be lieing about.

Where is this coming from Gary?...we've enforced every rule regarding for sale posts. The reason why it's a cause of discussion is because he attempted to start another for sale thread recently, after knowing the rules and attempting to violate them again, and the rules we're enforced.

You can restrict access to sections on a user level in the forum's admin control panel. Maybe as a consequence for repeat offenders?
