Im no expert in sps corals but what i learned is the more flow the better for sps.. I have a 28 jbj tank and i have a ton of flow.. I have never been successful with sps corals until now.. I give the credit to all the flow in my tank.. I run 2 mp 10's, mp 40, and two cobalt mj 1200's

Man! That is way too much flow for that tank. How do you keep anything in place?
And to get back into topic. Good thing you reduced your light intensity. That was the reason I lost a few colonies when I fired up my kessil. Now I keep my color at 65% and intensity at 100% at the peak of the day. My mistake was setting my color at 100% but now My Acros started coming back even the ones that I thought bleached completely.
I also run a carbon reactor but i run less than suggested. I run it for 2 weeks and switch it out. Some people have been successful runing pellets but i don't suggest it at all. Seems like you are in the right path though. These guys one here have gave you great info and plenty to do homework on for the next couple weeks. Best of luck!
Where do u put the corals with all those power heads in that tank lolIm no expert in sps corals but what i learned is the more flow the better for sps.. IME which is modest, SPS can be ok for a while in a no nutrient system. However, it makes them a lot more sensitive to high levels of light, and they start paling and weakening. There seems to be a point of no return where everything goes from OK to dead quickly. Some people can be highly successful running ULNS however IME they are running a lot closer to the edge where things can turn ugly in a hurry. I am going to play it safer from now on and go back to my old methods of nutrient export - refugium, good skimmer, and vodka (only if needed). My SPS before my experimentation with Biopellets looked best when I had a hair algae breakout, so I'm ULNS is not for me.
