Colaaddict's Shallow Tank

No sand Nino? Very nice Rocks...

Theres sand. I have to use sand with the minimal rocks style for bacteria to colonize.

I changed part of my return plumbing to vinyl tubing and the noise from the vibrations is like night and day. Its a ton quieter now.

I like your rocks :)

Thanks. I should have used reefflakes sand like you. I ended up using the Caribsea special grade sand and I had to rinse that thing 5 times before putting it in the tank. That stuff is dirty. I'm only using 1/2 " of sandbed.

Reefflakes is amazing. It's the only sand I would consider using.

I am still in the process of coral placement to clear more sand space. Trying to go for the "reef in the sky" look with only a few corals in the sand, but I have all sorts of chalices.

Looking good. The special grade reef sand is a pain to clean at first, but after the initial dust it is a great sand and doesn't blow around too easily.
