Connecting rods for Evergrow/Reefbreeders fixtures

Do you think that will prevent it, or just take longer to rust? Just trying to decide between the aluminum or struts.

Eric, I think you're on to something that may be a better option for me as well. I'll have to go back to the drawing board.

It would really depend on how well you spray them. Pretty much every surface will need to be coated and if you accidentally nick it, it'll probably start rusting. Might want to google marine rustproofing and see what options are available as far as epoxies and stuff. I just would be somewhat leery of what I'm putting near my aquarium. Everything I've read indicates that krylon fusion, once cured, is safe around a reef.

Thanks guys, I think with the weight issue, the aluminum would be the better option for me anyway.

So Eric did give me an idea. Can you give me your thoughts. Below is a picture of the top inside of my canopy. The only parts of the canopy that I would think could possibly support the weight of the two lights are the three 1 X 2's that run front to back on the left end, the center and there is a third on the right end. Do you think if I attached an aluminum bracket two those three points it could hold up the weight of two fixtures, about 40 lbs. spread out across two 24" spands?

Scroll up a few pages. This was Herbie's idea, lol :)

I think it would hold the weight.

how about attaching both to or (hanging them from) a single stronger strut suspended from the ends. I would think that span would be pretty tough to keep straight with anything threaded in line.

Whoops! That's what he was describing??? I'm sorry Nate. I guess I'm more of a visual learner. Besides I was still confused then as far as what a "strut" was. I've since done a lot of learning. Eric's drawing kind of helped me along.

Lol yes, Eric drew that poor excuse for a diagram, excellent crappy drawing Eric. Do better next time please. And you probably want to be more clear when you do post a picture. (Phew)
