I believe I'm entitled to my own opinion. :) Not pointing any fingers, so I don't know what you're speaking about.. I just said you seem shady is all.

The point of the grow out is to get people involved to split the cost of the piece(s).. Not so people can pay hundreds of dollars to someone to have them grow it out who isn't even local.. No one knows you (to my knowledge), so it's just strange.

I personally wouldn't want you growing out anything that I've paid $300 for, in Missouri.
 
+1 to cecily. I think for that price I would want to have that chalice local so u can go visit and see how its doing. And there would b more trust between local reefers than sum1 out of state. But u have guts saying I'll take that $2000 frag and grow for it for who knows how long. Oh yea but I'm not paying....

I think on the safe side grow outs should b local. There's plenty of ppl that have great setups.
 
Just to let you know these growouts take about a year keep in mind so if you have 6 people that might be more than a year I know a growout which is still going on which started a year and a half ago

I think anyone involved who has experience with chalices, in an established tank would be a good choice. I think this community here is tight knit enough to be able to find someone local.. Or who has good experiences with people. SOMETHING. I haven't even seen this guy in the threads really.

Local would also be good because that way you don't have to worry about UPS handling your things. I got an order shipped to me, and they left it on my porch - no knock.. NOTHING. I was pissed. If spending so much money on a coral.. I would like to be responsible for it's transportation.

This just makes my point a little easier to prove. A year+ in Missouri? If it was local I can almost guarantee that SOMEONE from the buy, or at least the site would end up seeing whoever is growing out the corals.
 
Gus are you volunteering to be the grower. the Grower get's to pay just about half the buy in, so just $150, since the grower is utilizing his/her tank space and do some feeding. If we have 6 buy in's it's 150 for the grower and 275 for the 5 others. I think that's a good price. I know someone on R2R who bought a Rainbow Crush frag that doubled in size in 1 month. so it seems like the most expensive chalice is atleast a fast grower.
 
I would vote for Gus, if that is something that he wants to do. Gus has been around a long time, and I know only great things about him.

okay guys, relax. I didn't think that you guys were gonna agree to having the frag in missouri, I was gonna step up and be the grower, but if Gus is volunteering, that would be fine. Reefknowscorals can be a participant though. I think that gives us 4 or 5 interested people. Anyone else wants in? I want to get this going ASAP :)

Sorry guys i didn't hit reply button last night.Ofcourse i'm paying,i didn't know i got a special discount or anything,i just know that my nano cube has quite a good potential for the chalices to be well and grow fast.I would also nominate Jeni if she'd like cause she is also good at keeping chalices.

Jenni hasn't expressed interest in joining the group grow out. The grower will only pay 150 to join in, as long as you are confident at growing chalices. The grower paying about half seems to be the going rate from all other grow outs I've been following in other forums.
Once we all agree on who the grower will be, I can start collecting money/paypal to finalize the grow out members. I think we only need 1 more person if everybody who showed interest sticks with it.
