DIY reef rock

Everyone lol there is only a few cements out there that have a low PH balance most cements will leach PH into your water!! Be Careful!!!

Portland Type 3 cement after about a month of curing has a stable pH of 7.8. Already have about 40 lbs of rock with stable pH that's dry now. It can air-cure in about 45 days, or wet cure in 30. Some of my rock I used rock salt to get really porous, and that has to cure for at least 1.5 months to be sure the salt is dissolved all the way through.

And JB weld will hold it to my overflows. Once fully cured it's strong as steel. Using that for the glass as well.

Once JB weld fully cures it is completely inert, and strong as steel. No leaching, no weakening over time.

JB Weld isn't cheap, but its more time/cost effective than building egg crate frames and tons of foam everywhere. I've used 3 packs for the amount of rock I have up right now in my build thread.

water weld or just JB Weld? Why do they make both? Only the water weld says safe for potable. Maybe for an empty build the regular stuff is ok, but in a running tank would the waterweld be better?

WW will make Ur skimmer go nuts for a bit, I've read. If you're going to use weld, make sure everything is dry, hehe...I learned the hard way when it didn't wanna adhere to anything :p

WW is good for small fixes, and just like coral epoxy makes your skimmer go nuts, but as long as the weld is dry and has the full 72 hours to cure, all JB weld products are 100% inert and don't leach into the water.

If your plugging a leak in plumbing, water weld. If you're making rockscape during tank setup, JB weld, lol.

i made some rock about a month ago, using grey portland. It sat dry for a month(I was going to toss it), but ended up breaking it up into rubble for my fuge, it has been sitting in water for a week now, with fresh water changes daily. Should i wait longer? or can I toss it in?
