Eric's Reef

No, I'm not a communist..
I have a 90G tank that I converted from a FOWLR to a reef tank in early 2010. The thread starts with the earlier pictures of when it was mostly softies and LPS. Over time it has transitioned into a SPS dominated mixed reef
. Some pieces are high-end, some just look nice to me. My photog skills have also (slightly) improved with the found knowledge of "white balance"

Thank you for looking.

very nice, now you need to get more corals

Thanks. The next pic's will show more corals. (these pic's were shortly after I began.) My biggest problem now is that I ran out of room :) I am starting to look for more LR so I have places to put them.
Hopefully I'll get more pic's up later today.

Still messing around with the camera settings. Perhaps next time I'll turn off some of the actinics and see if I can get a truer color. (Unfortunately I had this idea too late.)

Thanks! It's still a young tank and a work in progress. Lately, I've been looking for places to add more LR (i.e. make more room for more coral). About 1.5 years ago, when I converted it from a FOWLR, I only started with about 30 lbs of rock. I figured I'd put in 2 or 3 corals for a little texture and be done. (Man, was I mistaken!) Since then, I've added a rock or 2 at a time and probably have about 70 lbs now.

The superman is mounted on the new (bright white) rock. It colored up nicely and has taken well to the stronger lights, it's going to make it. I'll take another picture when it grows out. The "sunset" is a pink-peach color with white polyps. It's either not a sunset or its still not out of the woods yet. You can't see it in this pic (it's behind the torch). As long as it stays alive, I'll be happy with the peach/white combo. It actually looks pretty good!

Awesome! Good to hear. Your tank is lookig good. I see an upgrade pretty soon Eric. . . . :biggrin1:

Thanks! I'm pretty sure I can squeeze some more LR in there before I'm forced to upgrade :) and there's still some room on the SB. However, I have been thinking about a 2nd tank for my office. Everything always boils down to finances and I can't tell the old :ballchain: that a new tank will only cost $20 (like everything else I buy :) )
