Found whats killing my fish ~ i think (Cirolanid Isopod)

that rock can easily be re-cured tin. Can you just leave it in a flower pot on the porch or something? Nothing can survive a full blown UV bath for a few weeks/months. I'm betting you like the pieces of rock you have.

True nate .. also bleach should kill them or anythingfor that matter .. im gonna bleach a piece or two and use them .. that tonga branch at the back is very unique i will bleach it and use it ..

The QUESTION is i have a colony of watermenlon zoas about 120 polyps on a rock .. what should i do with them ?? cant dip the whole rock and cant seperate the zoos from the rock :( should i let them go ?

Update : clown is doing good and i tried finding the firefish but i couldnt find it anywhere (even its regular hanging spot is empty) not sure what happened to the firefish .. ill see oncei get new rock and empty the tank

Phew .. wish no one else have to go thru all this work :(

Sorry to hear this tin. If u want to u can also do a muratic acid bath after the bleach. Make ur rock extra clean. I did this and its was easy. Then u dont have to worry about phosphates leaching from the rock

Check behind the tank tin. Sorry to hear about this. I'm really glad you waited to stop by. I'm also glad you found the mysterious fish killer.

There is no way firefish jumped .. it is in the tank still dead or alive .. i dint have time to move all the rock and so hoping its still kicking those bugs in the butt in there ..

im assuming your rock has been dry for a while, but i know mine wouldnt come out of the rock, literally had to break the rock with some pliers lil piece by lil piece to get him out. hopefully you find the lil dude

Break that rock underwater or protect your eyes if you do it out of water. You don't need to find out you're allergic to rock chips and zoa squirts the hard way.

Wow never saw one of those! I'm a strong a avacate of QT . I have gotten some small frags that looked fine to be surprised to see what comes off them when dipped. That's why I not only dip but also do a QT . Sad but if you watch the post you can see how fast these pest travel from tank to tank by trade or sales . One example is the post with a bunch of people looking for the cure for red bugs. For new people when you see these outbreaks it's a good idea to pull back and stop from adding anything to your tank or a least take the proper steps to not acquire unwanted guests .

Both firefish and the clown are in qt and are safe now. :)

Planning on swapping the whole rock this weekend

Those guys are going to have some serious stories to tell the next fish you get. You should rename them Hicks and Ripley.

Yes both are completely fine in the qt and are very active

I'm hoping to keep them for 6 weeks before returning them back into the tank.

Now question time : there is no rock nothing in qt just some PVC for them to hide, it's an 8 gallon nuvo so how ofte. Should i change water and how much should I change ??

I'd meant to chime in sooner, Tin, just been incredibly busy lately! I'm glad you figured out the problem finally but sorry that you have to go through this! I'm hoping the creatures you have also aren't in my tank.... I've been fishless for, well it seems forever, but I went that way to combat cryotocaryon.... And it seems that doesn't help this particular beast. :(

Good luck with your recovery though, I'll be following closely - just in case!

Finally !!

after all the work it took, new rock and new sand and stuff .. my fish are fine and healthy (including the cutie clown and the firefish) as of today after a 1.5 months of adding them back to the tank.

i can finally say adios to those blood sucking mfeckers. YAY :marchmellow:

Glad to hear the good report, I think I'd quit if I had to go through all of that... Did you ever come across another one when you took the rock out... Or just the one? Glad you didn't loose the filefish, I have a cardinal that goes missing for weeks at a time.
