Gyre 130 and 150 report?

Any report for the gyre 130 and 150? You have one running in your tank? Like or not like it?
I am in the market for one (may be gyre 130).
Thanks

I have the 130 in a DB 80g. The flow just one puts out is incredible. Right now it's just an Anemone/Gorgonian tank so it works perfectly. If this was an SPS tank I would want at least one 130 on each end and some other PHs also. I like strong flow in all my tanks to keep food and Detritus suspended, by I also like turbulent flow which I can't do with just one. But I am happy with it, I just wish Maxspect and Neptune got along better.

I have a Gyre 130 in my 75 with center overflow running at about 50%. Strong flow but constant flow. The default controller can only do constant, pulse, or alternating. Alternating is not useful in a big tank. Pulse has a disclaimer that it may affect integrity of the glass. There are dead spots at the opposite back corner of my tank because of my center overflow. I see detritus collecting at the water surface. If I run higher than 50%, my LPS is not happy. However, I like having just one pump that can provide enough flow 4 feet across and one pump is cheaper than two WAVs. Although if I were to get the Apex module for the Gyre, the cost is almost even and at that point, the WAV is a better deal.

I've got two xf-130's, each on a 75g.

Pros
Love the smooth, wide spread flow
Extremely quiet
Easy install
Easy (relatively) to program

Cons
Cleaning, used dropping wetside of mp10 into vinegar solution overnight, and wiping it off in morning, drying and storing for few months. I have a second wetside which we alternate.
Not to mention dealing with gyre cord for cleaning
No real night mode, which I've come to appreciate on mp10

Neutral
I prefer the pulsing mode, for best flow. Who knows, many options.

Thanks guys for the input. I did look at the WAV too but not sure about them.

I run the 150 on my 120 Gallon and the thing is powerful. I run it at 60% on pulsing mode. My sps deft love the flow, but the LPS like Goni. seem like they just get sucked one way toward the gyre. It is very quite, when the fans on my lights kick on they are deft. louder. One thing I hate doing is cleaning it. Every time I go to clean it I feel like im going to break the damn thing. Also the reverse mode is kind of useless unless you have the correct cages on. I do run the reverse mode couple times a week for 10 min or so to get crap that settled at the bottom below the gyre to get lifted up. I had to MP's on my tank and also liked them alot but would need two MP40 for the 120. The gyre does look a lot cleaner i think. You really cant be disappointed with it, plus the customer service is amazing.

I'm running 2x 150's on my 105 and although its total overkill I wasn't satisfied with running just one pump. These move a ton of water, but will likely require a lot of experimentation to get it the way you want and will also likely need supplementation with a second pump of some sort.

I have a 150 on my 220. Don't think I'd buy one again. For a big tank, the gyre motion doesn't reach the far side of the tank very well. It surely doesn't make its way back. You have to point it up somewhat or it causes a sand storm. I run two Jaebos on pulse on the opposite end and the crash into the gyre flow is nice

The reverse mode is worthless. As mentioned above, you need to point this up somewhat. On reverse, one points down and would cause a sand storm. It may work if you mounted the pump vertically. However you're cutting your potential flow by 50% because only half of the pump is running at any time.

Finally, the build quality just isn't that great. When I take it apart to clean it, there is a good chance that all of the parts won't be properly aligned and I'll have to take it apart and try again. The paddles are flimsy too. I broke one within a week of owning it.

Yes is moves a lot of water, no I wouldn't buy it again.

Good point, thanks.

I own the 150, had it for about 6 months and its running at 40% on my 180. I just got the Apex module for it this week for $38 off of ebay, I'm going to install it next week.

What measurements is your 180, is it 6' long or?
