With approximately 60% more volume than my NC28 I think this tank will make a worthy upgrade for me. I'm excited to apply what I have learned from you all as well as my own mistakes (I'm sure there will be plenty more of those). Here is what I started with.

(the boys did not come with the tank)

The empty canvas (Marineland 45g Cube 24x24x19). Special thanks to Matt at Sho Tank in Mundelein for the expert glass cutting!

I still have a bunch of things I need to get (Light, return pump, second sump Etc.), but I do have some stuff laying around.

What can I say, I'm a hoarder. :bird:

1.5" drain will flow into an acrylic sump for the skimmer section and then into a 10g glass fuge/return. I may also split the drain so I can manage water flow (I like the sump layout on my grow out tank quite a bit). Return will be 3/4" because I have the lock-line, but he bulkhead is 1" if I need something different.

Looking forward to comments and suggestions of all types. Help me help you help me. I want a mixed reef but nothing too demanding on the SPS side. Everything from my NC28 will eventually be in here and then I will be very selective of my additional livestock going forward. Most importantly, I'm in no hurry on this.

Thanks guys . Victor it's 51 inches, but I'm actually considering a 6 inch riser under it. (And thanks for peer pressuring me to get it)

Lol. I did not need to get another tank right now! Would the six inches put it right at eye level or a little under for you?

Awesome tank Nate mate :)

But a suggestion if I can, the placement of the tank .. Don't know if its just me but I love looking at the tank from all sides. You have walls blocking on two sides soo any other area in the house ??

If you abolutely love the placement :) this is just an idea ...

I can't go to my eye level because I want my shorties to see in and I'm 6'4", but I may want to split the diff a little.

Yeah Krishna I'm not 100% on the placement yet but I don't have a ton of options either. We're planning on moving within a year anyway

That's an awesome looking tank. That's the same one I was gonna go with before I picked out the cube I currently have. Congrats and I look forward to seeing it come to life.

If the nanocube on the counter is coming down it'll look good.

I was thinking for lighting one radion or 2 vegas?

the nano cube is switching over to the 45 and will no longer be on that counter which does free up space. I am going with this plan. (spousal involvement should be fostered whenever possible as well).
