Jrpark22000 Nem tank

The blood red mini carpet is a good boy doesn't move much and eats like a pig. I love it! Shine up your tank and take some pics. ;)

this tank needs a "Rainbow"....lol
fwiw Josh you should consider a Rabbitfish if you're having BA issues....
I've had BA for years and keeping Rabbits has kept it under control without issue :)

Just got one HAHAHAHAHAHA!

If it wasn't a 17gal tank, I'd agree. a tank this small is no place for a rabbit. The two uchins I have in the tank are doing a good job, just not enough. Adding 3 more in a couple days will hopefully help and it make the tank a lot prickly now.

I did not see the gonzo...?

Sorry Mai, I missed your reply. A little while after adding the dreamsicle nem from gg1111 (about June) the gonzo moved deeper in the tank. I left it alone (bad idea!!!) by the time I decided it wasn't getting enought light where it was and moved it higher up, it never recovered. It wasted away to nothing, just like the lemon drop did.

The rainbow I got from Tinman is very very similar. The only thing it's missing that the gonzo has was the white ring around the mouth.

UPDATE on the Bubble Algae plague!!!
The rock urchins are finally keeping up! It only took putting 5 in a 17 gallon tank :rofl:

It helps that the maxi-mini and BTAs are huge. The rocks the nems cover when fully extended don't get enough light for BA to grow. The only thing I have to do is once a month or so, manually remove the large BA the urchins miss. They won't eat the large stuff, but they will scrape the rock white everywhere else, eating the baby BA right along with the coraline :woohoo:

Update on the blood nem;

After its second split I traded one for the dreamsicle BTA which has grown quite large. The blood nems were getting shaded by the ever growing dreamsicle. Both started moving, but the smaller one moved too far out of the light and started shrinking. I tried in vain a couple time to relocate it to a place it’d find suitable with enough light. It wasted away. I finally learned my lesson when the last blood nem moved to a dark spot. I setup a holding pen. Using a tom’s dip and pour container I drilled a bunch of holes in both sides for water circulation. Then put it in front of the return jet to keep water flowing through the container. The blood nems lives in there for now until I can get it back to strong and healthy. Only then will I let it out to its own choice where to live.

Is that a chair in front of the tank? Best seat in the house. Mines a foldable chair lol

Yep, a pair of them. I pick the furthest chair from the tank for better viewing.
That's what I need to do. A pair would be unnecessary considering my wife hates the tanks lol. Unless one of you guys come over then we can relax, look at the tank, drink beer and talk reef. Wheels are turning now
