MCF closing sale- good deal or big disappointment ???

We were there from about 11-2 chatting and picking a few dry goods up. Yes, it was crazy! Everything was discounted and if you asked MCF would make a deal with you. Everyone was in high spirits and happy to see folks. It's sad that they are closing, but it's a start of a new beginning.

Thanks to everyone that came out today! It was great to see some familiar faces one last time. Sorry for the confusion, as you can imagine were busy from the minute the doors opened. For those that are wondering we do have $10 frags for $5, $15 chunks for $8, all corals 20% off, fish 25% off and we are looking to hook anybody out there up with T5 bulbs and drygoods as well. We want to see as much as possible go to new homes so if you are looking for something let us know and we can work something out. Pretty much everything is negotiable at this point.

Hey blake lmk if u guy are planning to sell those frag racks in ur sps tank.. The clear ones... Thnks

My special order Butterflyfish was sadly stuck to an intake vent when i got there. I freed him but he flopped around on the sb after that. Nino texted me that he was dead a few minutes later.

Thanks for the memories, MCF !!

Such good peeps. I wish them all well. I was able to find 7 frags, my trippa and a buck of tropic Marin. I'd say they're still worth a peek this weekend. Viva mcf.

Hey guys leave some stuff left for those of us who work today and tommorrow! Anyone know of a shortcut or anything to Fish Planet from there? I used to work in that area and those streets are quite crazy, so I don't fully trust mapquest and I plan to visit them for the first time.

dry goods

Hey Steve,
It's Isaac good to see you finally made it to CR! Quick question are you planning to selling some of the common dry goods that MCF had in stock. I just switched salts and now MCF is closing, the nearest place after them is Old Orchird and I don't plan to go that way.

Sure!! You have to coach me a bit and let me know what you want and or need but of course I will!!

It was my first time there, and I think I made out ok...i bought a 16oz bottle of kent m magnesium (for my bryopsis), 2 of those $5 sps frags (birdsnest and monti plate), and a nice size mini colony acro, with blue tips. Blake even gave me a 12lbs bag of their sand out the tank for free. My bill came out to a lil over $50 bucks. Oh, and I also picked up a battery powered pump, for if/when my power goes back out again.

just head back to Deerfield rd and go west. it's pretty much corner of Deerfield and Waukegan rd.

ETR and I were there this morning around 9:45 and the place was packed. I don't think there was another parking spot left. Initially there was a bit of confusion on prices and discounts. I wish they had some guidance posted. The staff was so busy pulling stiff out of the tanks... that I did not bother them to ask the question....at first... I was looking to pick up a couple of fish I had on hold.....but passed as only one of the Antias were left... ETR also was missing a Flame Angel he had on hold and a Pearlscale B'fly was all but dead that he was looking forward to picking up. It is a shame... but there are other places to get fish... So no huge loss.... If you like small frags and LPS and Softies there were a lot available. I think the $10 frag tank....everything was $5. I bought an SPS colony of that was $60 for $35. I bought Azox Coral food for $12.... I think it is usually $19 or $20. Finally I picked up a large rock / ceramic magnetic frag rack....I think it is meant to go over an MP40.... for $65. I think it was $100-120 full price. So for me.... I think it was worth the drive. As for later today, tomorrow.. and Saturday. I would guess at the rate they were going.... that place will be bare tonight.

People we buying car loads of stuff. Rumor is some guy walked in near the open of the doors and purchased the entire lookdown tank contents.... rock, coral and fish..... "lock, stock and barrell". Must be nice.... It was good to see Reed and Blake one last time. They are good people and I hope they will continue to be active participants on this board. It was also good to see Sara.... though she was so busy checking people out....that she did not have much time to talk. Again, she has been so helpful and kind to me over the years. She is terrific and I wish her and all involved in MCF and GRS all the very best. They will be missed.

Funny thing is that I bought Azox an hour ago and paid the regular price. Interesting.

I was there this morning about 10AM it was packed with people buying stuff. I wanted to get some dry goods and maybe find few deals on corals, unfortunately there was not a single penny discount from their original prices.I was there two times last month and all prices were the same. For me it was a big disappointment, especially that I had to drive 45 min. each way. Got to say good bye to Blake and wish him good luck and I left without buying single thing. I was not happy with all the hype going about good deals because going out of business. Please share your experience, good or bad you had with. Good bye MCF,never disappointed me until today.

+1

They did give me free salt water though.
