MCF closing sale- good deal or big disappointment ???

Did u email or call? I'm just waiting for Blake to come back. They have to give me a magnet for the frag rack I got from them. Blake's easier to get a hold of

To be honest I stopped buying corals and most fish from the LFS's. Almost all the purchases I have made came from this forum. I usually used the LFS for my dry goods and to say hello. Now as for the question at hand......I was disappointed at my last visit, I really didn't go there to buy anything. Just to say goodbye to some great people.

I never got a call from Sara so I guess I am not getting my fish or my Azox. :a20:

You're not the only one with an outstanding order. I ordered an mp40 over a month ago and was told repeatedly that it was on its way (even after the store closed). Looks like I'll be looking to place an order somewhere else.

Pm Mark (MMreefcrazy), he knows a good place to get them.

Outside of the fish, the sps had been really poor, but I did go to say goodbye as well. I saw reed and Matt, but no Sara. I did find some diamonds in the rough that I recognized from the old show tank, so that was cool, just gotta get me colored up :)

Nowadays if I want some nice SPS, LPS or ZOA's I'll call my regular guys here on the forum.

MCF had a huge impact on our reef passion in the local area. They will be missed but not entirely needed.

Did you make a payment? Cause I would be pissed too!

With so many other local reefers having such a variety of higher end corals, it's almost unecessary for anyone to buy any corals from an LFS. To be quite honest, there aren't any LFS in the area that carry anything extraordinary when it comes to corals except Reefwise and occasionally Aquapros. Most usually only carry the typical common corals that only noobs would be interested in. I never bought any corals from MCF except out of the frag tank and I no longer have any of them in my current setup. I did go there for foods and fish though.

95% of my livestock has come from LFS (90% of that from MCF) and I love the way everything is looking. I never have understood pedigree, but there are definitely some amazing and fantastic organisms to collect out there. I always felt like going to MCF was like a trip to the ocean to collect. You just never knew what they were going to have or exactly what it would look like later. I love this hobby for the ability to incorporate a beautiful piece of a living reef in my life, but my life needs lots of other beautiful stuff as well :)

Once upon a time (last fall) you could get the good high-end sps pieces and really nice mini-colonies. I never saw it personally, but I've heard that the uber-cool pieces stayed on the wholesale side.
