More new LED goodies! 72w CREE led remote controlled programmable fixtures $419.99!!

What brand are the drivers? What brand optics?Where are these made? Sorry for all the Q's,just curious to know their origin.

Drivers and optics are both generic non brand name. Fixtures are manufactured in China. And all fixtures are subject to a 24hr burn in period prior to shipping, to ensure no immediate failures or bad parts, and are warrantied through me, Coral Compulsion, directly for 1yr.

Let's all try to remember we are all on the same side here, and to be considerate to our supporters. I have no doubt that CC would be more than happy to have provided links to his manufacturers if asked. He has honestly answered all other questions about these new lights so far...

Thanks George. You may be right, I'm not out to hide anything about my lights, they are made in china with parts specified by me to customize them. Unfortunately my manufacturer does not have a website, I deal with them directly, but I provide all information regarding my products to my customers. My one on one relationship with my manufacturer and bulk ordering allows me to sell my products at the prices I sell them at. As my motto says on my website, my mission is to provide great products to people at prices they can afford. I only sell products which I would, and do use on my own tanks.

Would this be enough to cover a 36" wide tank? I have a center brace? How much are the 36" models?

Do you plan on hanging it or using the legs to sit it on the rim? It would fit with the legs, but you would end up with some dark areas on the ends since the light is 24" long. If you hung it, you could raise it up a bit and spread the light more, but it would lose a little par value (but it would also eliminate some of the shadowing you would get from the center brace. The 24" model will evenly light about 30" when placed at the top of the rim. I have a sample fixture setup over a 20l (30" length). If you wanted to see it in person, just let me know and we can setup a day and time.

I could order you a 36" model with either Bridgelux or Cree leds. That model has 36 leds (108w), vs the 24 leds (72w) on the 24" fixture. The Cree model would be $499.99, and the Bridgelux model would be $419.99. Either special order would take about 2 weeks to get to me.

If I hung it, I can't go too high. Maybe about 8" max. Would that be high enough to cover it and would I still be able to get good par reading on the bottom to keep clams?

24" deep.

With that deep you would definitely want to go with the 36" fixture to get the extra 12 leds. I would say that would be sufficient with 108watts and 90 degree honeycomb optics.

Depending on how much of a hurry you are in, your other option would be two of my other new lights that are on their way :)

Two of these would probably be overkill, but you could certainly keep whatever you want under them!

120w, 55 LEDs, 90 degree optics, built in LCD controller, Dimmable 3 channels, no breakout box, Full Spectrum (23 Blue, 17 White, 4 True Violet, 4 Cyan, 4 Deep Red), 3 Moonlights with built in monthly lunar cycle, and 4 auto program modes for spring, summer, fall, and winter. They look ike the picture below:

These will sell for $349.99, and I will have them in about 2 weeks if you want to see them in person.

I am liking that fixture a lot. Does the 36" fixture also have those same features? What kind of look do they give off? 16k? 10k? 20k?

How does the 4 auto program work? This is a new function that I haven't seen yet

It may be hard to see in an image, but see below. This shows the 4 modes, along with the intensity of each channel at the given time and day.

The 36" fixture has everything except for the full spectrum, obviously less leds, also it does not have 4 auto modes only 1. However, the 36" fixture has the remote control, and custom program capabilities.

As for color on both fixtures, it's hard to generalize the color temperature, because it is always changing the intensity of the different color leds based on the mode (much like the actual sun). Otherwise you could manually set it to always be whatever color you want by simply dimming certain channels to achieve your preference, and not using the special modes.

Forgot to mention one other difference. The 72w CREE fixture is warrantied for 1 year, and the 120w fixture is warrantied for 3 years. Warranty covers any defects, so long as the housings are not tampered with, and there is no water damage. Warranty issues for any of my LED products go directly through me.

I think I might get 2 of 120w for 349.99$ that you have posted above. I can dim them and start them off at a lower intensity to adjust my corals correct? The highest I can hang up is maybe 10" max. More like 8" from the surface.

Any reviews on that fixture and specs?

Sounds good. Yes, you can manually dim the fixture to aclimate the corals at first. Then once they are aclimated run one of the preprogrammed modes.

I have had interest expressed from a few others, and I am going to discuss some additional quantity discounts with my manufacturer, so that I can hopefully setup some kind of a discounted group buy for anyone that is interested in this light.

As for reviews, this is a new product line for my company, and has not been sold to any of my customers yet. I have tested this same fixture with only blue and white leds, and it was really great. I initially had it over my 20L and it was so powerful, I had to hang it high and dim it so far down that I ended up taking it off the tank altogether. It's definitely better suited for deeper tanks, and looked very nice over my 90gallon. The addition of the Cyan, Deep Red, and True Violet leds will be new to this fixture, however I have been running the exact same leds in my full spectrum PAR38 test bulbs. The color is great, and growth has been very good.

As for specs, I think I listed most of them above, but if there is something specific you are looking for, just let me know. I don't hide any information regarding my products. As it is stated on my website, my mission is to bring quality products to people, for reasonable prices. I only sell products that I would, and do use, at prices I would buy them them for. I don't believe in the ridiculous markups and price gouging that happens all to often in our hobby. Those kinds of business practices are precisely what drove me to start Coral Compulsion, people all over the country thank me, and seem to be happy with all my products and my prices, thus far.
