Mrs. Smitty's Gorgonian tank

Nice! Where did the horses come from? What temperature did you decide to keep the tank at/heater set at since you said no chiller.

Thank you. I picked them up from Aquatica...I've been eyeing them for a few weeks to make sure they were healthy and eating. He fed them thawed mysis shrimp in front of us, and those ponies went to town. So I felt very comfortable purchasing them from him. The water temp is at 77°...and eventually I'll probably get her a small hob chiller for the tank.

Nice! What is your feeding schedule like for the NPS? Planning on having feeding dish training the seahorses?

Thanks...I have her feeding the tank every other day, either with rods food, or reef chilli. And now I'm even teaching her to spot feed some of the corals. I thought about the feeding dish to train them, but after seeing those guys fly thru the water for the mysis, it may not be necessary. Although it'd be cool to see them eating from it whenever they got hungry. So it's still an option.

I also had to remove all the reef hermit crabs out her tank...I foresee them being an issue with the seahorses. As soon as I added the horses, one crab was crawling all over it and pretty much trapped it against a rock, so they had to go, to keep the stress levels down.

Yeah I used nassarius snails in my seahorse tank for leftover food CUC. If they are going after food well in the water column don't even bother with the dish. It's a pain, you have to turn off all the flow anyway or the mysis blow out of the dish.

Ok, cool...Thanks for that advise. I'll skip the dish then. And I have to pick up some nass snails for her tank.
