My 150 build thread...

looks great should fill in very nice

Thanks.... Wife just told me she doesn't like the one stray rock in front middle. I tend to agree with her, but since she put the scape together I let it be... Looks like it'll go in the fuge tomorrow. That way there should be more room in the middle of the tank and it will look more open.

Alrighty so great updates here.. Been a busy week...

We transferred our baby Booyah's Onyx to this big tank, and went to Mitch to pick out a smaller mate... Got them in the tank, and now they are following each other around. That pairing was just too easy... Success there!

Last night, added a Longnose Hawkfish, a Carpenters Flasher Wrasse, and a Yellow Fin Fairy Wrasse. The Yellow fin stuck out to us because his top fin isn't so much yellow, it's like a neon lime green. Simply beautiful!

The parameters are still zero and perfect, and will do my first water change probably next weekend. That will make it about 5 weeks in... There is still a decent amount of small fine particles still flying around the water column, but it's going down daily... The fine southdown sand takes a long while to settle down from what I have read (1-3 months)

Now for some pictures! I did what I can, but the wrasses are shy, and FAST.

FTS.... Lights are ramping up slowly, with full intensity between 12-2PM.

The new additions were very shy yesterday, but are exploring more now, and ate like pigs earlier. Everyone is eating well and I'm making sure everything they eat is infused with Garlic to help their immune systems..

very nice

Thank you~ It will look even better when everything settles down and the water column is completely clear and free of the small particulate..

Looks great. love the frogspawn....

Thanks, the frogspawn has been with us for almost 1.5 years... I got it when it maybe had 10 heads... It probably has 30 by now.. It's HUGE.. I had a problem fitting it into the door on the canopy and under the Radions. It's certainly my prize piece in the tank.

So just thought I would update... I'm giving away a bunch of stuff from the 60 cube today, and moved over my Todd's Torch, Highlighter Acro, Frogspawn, and some other stuff... Our cleaner shrimp was caught and in the new tank, and now just need to find the Mandarin from the cube.. He's small, and sneaky..

FTS.... I put in about .5" of sand from the cube today right along the front to help jump start bacteria growth, and as well to keep the south down from moving around so much. I'm hoping this will help clear things up much quicker. Our wrasses sleep in the rock structure, so not worried about the sand really for that.

Jacque the cleaner shrimp finds his beloved Todd's Torch and sits right under it... just like in the cube.

Front of the tank, the SPS is temporary... need to find it a new home

I'm trying to leave the entire left side really untouched as we are going to be getting a beautiful Gigantea True Carpet in the coming weeks, so I'm keeping things away so it can find a happy place to live.

Thanks everyone.

So I added a Maldive's Exquisite Fairy Wrasse this week... full size, beautiful coloration, and getting along just fine with the Yellow Fin & Whip Fin fairy wrasses... No aggression, fin nipping, nothing. I'll get pictures of everyone when I clean the glass here shortly.

Also, a local reefer will be hooking me up with some frags of Tyree SPS to see how the Radions do compared to his MH.... Strawberry Shortcake, Pink Lemonade, ORA Red Planet, etc.... Looking forward to watching these grow out!

Here are some pictures of what it looks like right now.. when the glass is clean I'll take some zoom shots of corals, etc. The small sandy particulate from the super fine sugar sand is slowly starting to settle down... In time, it will all be crystal clear, but until then I wait!

Alrighty so I figure that I really need some updates... a lot has changed, and much progression..

So my Marco Rock (Dry Rock) has been curing in tank and wish I had the luxury to have done this before the tank started, but hey it is what it is.... So there is \ was cyano all over the place and it comes and goes just as quickly. I'm running GFO constantly and it is doing a great job of killing it just as quickly as it can come up. Interestingly enough, when the cyano dissapears, the rock underneath is no longer the white bleached color it was but colors up to a concrete like grey, the green, etc... Coraline is on the back glass so we're getting there. As a result of this, I had to hand off my SPS colonies (third one going soon) locally to a fellow reefer (Thanks Jfuka) and they're in his very capable hands. Ironically, I couldn't think of anyone more capable to handle SPS than Mr. SPS himself. In any case, no one else is being bothered by this in the tank but any rock that is leeching anything has cyano..

Pictures... We added a few corals a couple of weeks ago and they are all three doing awesome.

Orange Plate... real awesome color in the tank, and long tentacles.

Rainbow colored Lobo at the LFS, when it got here, the sides lost the rainbow and went to a dull brown but section by section they're coming back and brighter than before.

IMG_2005.CR2.jpg

A really nice chalice that as well wasn't this bright at the LFS, but now the pinks are really really popping under the Radions...

As many of you know, the coolest thing so far in this tank is our Purple Gigantea... Here's some pictures with our Booyah's Onyx clowns swimming in it.

Last but not least, our two last additions to the tank for the time being... A pair of Yellow Wrasses... This is the male as evidence by the markings on his face and size compared to the female. They are absolutely stunning fish and make a great addition to the tank!
