my little reef by matt

I used egg crate but crap will get trapped between the egg crate holes. I just blow it out once a month with a turkey Baster. Cheap and easy.

I placed a nano power head down there to stir up the sediment. For weekly 5 gal changes.
And i just shop vac the whole thing. 35/40 gal water change probably 3 times a year? If.

Week was finally able to get him out swimming a bit so hear he is in was told he was a Indian Ocean tusk but the more I look them up in think he is a aussi tusk maybe you guys can tell me more about him

Yes, I am running bare bottom in this tank.i was messing around with my rocks and got stuff I have to siphon out

Got ya i couldnt tell if was barebottom or black sand lol

I was going to do black sand but decided not to. I have been going back and forth between sand and no sand, as you can tell I went with no sand I don't know if it was the right move yet

Theres no right or wrong answer to that its more prefrence then anything i prefer sand and deep sand but some prefer barebottom either way works

I understand that, I just don't know if it was the right move for me yet. I love sand beds but was thinking about if I introduced tangs to my tank I know that thay are prone for ick and my thoughts be hind this is if I have no sand they don't have many places to reproduce as that is where they fall off and live till the get back to the fish I guess I am kinda using this as a little bit of a fail safe in away if it even works . This is just my thoughts on not having a sand bed right now

Was a thought of mine eventually I want to add sand I think

Well imo if u r thinking about adding sand think fast u gonna want to do it before u fill that tank up with corals and id go with wet live sand to minimize the cycle

Well I never did think about that, good point. I think I'll be staying away from sand then. By the way I got the tusk eating today had to go buy him raw shrimp from the store boy oh boy did he gobble that up lol
