my little reef by matt

Getting ready to put a new sump under my tank this weekend, just getting everthing built for my manifold to run my reactors and whatever eles I'll need to run in the future. I can not wait to get this done and over with so I can hope to cut down on my pumps in my sump as well. Hoping with building this I'll also be able to cut some heat out of my tank as well

Hey man hate to be a buzz kill but those look like the gate valves I used on my last manifold, got them from ace. They all ended up leaking through the valve.

Thats odd that they would leak....didnt think we were putting that much pressure through them.

My manifold is similar to this one with flex tubing and shut off valves like the TLF ones for reactors.

Hate to butt in, but I'm about to build a manifold and was going to do almost the same as Matt did. Which valves have people had best long term luck with?

Already thought about that and going to add a cap to the ends of the ones I am not using.no buzz kill hear man, already had a back up plan

Yea. The handle where the screw is seems to be my guess......as most gate valves on my property leak from there....but thats from back pressure.

Man I hope that dose not happen, I already started gluing it be for that, I did notice that the fronts where they screw on where loose so I tightens them

Well think I might be going a different route with my tank, I have been fighting heat issues and can not afford to keep loosing sps and buying a chiller is out of the question. So I think I might be doing more lps from hear on out going to keep the sps I got still. Hope all goes well with the ones I have seeing they are not cheep wish me luck on everthing with this tank

I have my fan over the screens hitting the light fixtures.
When ever the fan runs.
Evaporation and ato runs through gallons like nothing

this actually saved me from 82 to 80

just hang it over the sump and be done

EDIT

and its not just sps that are temperamental about temperature, once you cross 83 .. everything is a gamble.

I have no air-conditioning at home witch is the battle I can't win I have a fan over the sump and over the top of the tank and evaporat about 3gal aday and I hit Temps of 84-86 degrees

damn .. 86 ? how are you even able to keep coral ahha ..

i lost chalices worth about 3 grand or so to temp swings .. went to 86 ..and thats the only thing i can see fault ..but well its also a 10 gallon tank so tollerence is little too less compared to yours i guess
