My "Tanked" Tank

I would have been pissed if my tank arrived and I couldn't get it in my house :(

If it were me, I remove the windows.

If you have been wanting to replace the window, why not do it now? Bigger question, do you see yourself moving anytime soon?

How old is the tank does it need to be resealed anyway?? Not that I don't like picture windows or a reason to upgrade. 10 feet and how may lbs.

Yes, everyone on two different forums strongly discourage tanking tank apart. Plans A, C, D and E are out so Plan B, taking the windows is it.

Yes I have the corner for it in the living room. Love seat, couch, big screen tv and tank..that's my living room....

Not moving within the next 8 years minimum. Tank is 5 years old. She had stock in it all the way up until it sold. Pet shop went out of business.

I was disappointed because I didn't want the extra work but I had planned for it. I had 99" of room, she said it was 96" so I thought I was doing great. Tank is 100" though. I left it up to the pros and they said it couldn't fit but just that much but I am determined to make this work.

Tank will be in house soon. Getting estimates on windows this week and nobody seems worried about helping me get tank through windows. It must be in house before I have surgery so I'm pushing the installers for more estimates. No new pics yet.

If you need help wedging that into the house I'm sure some of us would be happy to help! haha

Yah I would definetly go through the windows.
Wouldnt take any risk disassembling such an odd-shaped tank.

let us know what we can do. Just provide the beer and were good

hmm, that's an idea, I didn't even think of you guys. I live near Midway Airport. I'm so ready to just knock the windows out now and get this tank in here. I'm having surgery in two weeks and I want the tank in the house by then. I don't care about the windows, just the tank. Having tarp over the hole for a couple weeks won't bother me! Beer is the easy part!!

I didn't even think about asking for help. That would be fantastic! Anyone interested in coming over next Sunday when the Bears have a bye week? I will take a saws all and cut the windows out myself if I have to (unless one of you guys can do it ). The windows are about 6 feet off the ground and I figure we can push it up some 2 x4s unless someone has a better idea. I am going to move the tank over to a utility trailer I have sitting in garage and somebody with a trailer hitch and pull it out of garage to front of house so we don't have to carry it. I'm not sure if I can get a window installer here this week to cut it out and come back later to put window back in. Arranging things like this is way out of my league.

I don't care about any of the plants that we need to step on.

Anyone have any better ideas on this? I"m having surgery on my elbow on the 9th and I'm very stressed on getting this in the house. Most of the stress is getting window installers over here for estimates. The rest is getting guys over here while the old windows are cut out. argh

What a cool tank. Can't wait to see it in action!!

Good luck getting it in and please post some pics going through the windows....this I gotta see!!!

make sure the windows you get are "energy star qualified" and you will be able to take tax breaks on the new window install.

where is tank going id take out the glass block but if upstairs leaves it stuck in bsmnt lol and i imagine u did measure twice right would be a slight disaster to rip out windows and still have tank outside

just relooked at picture you dont have a sliding glass door do ya that lift is gonna suck prob gonna need quite a few people outside and then the people inside could be a expensive tap lol

Hmm, starting to get depressed about the whole thing. Had a buddy of mine come over and he is so negative about the whole thing; it won't fit, why did you buy it, you don't need it, it won't go there, just sell it etc. Not even my boyfriend is that nagging about this. He wouldn't even help me push it over so I can work on the metal frame.

The latest estimate from a window installer was also very negative. He's not interested in moving the tank part of this job. The stress is getting to me and I'm about ready to give up on the whole thing.

Anybody want a huge 500 gallon fish tank?
