New 210 Gal tank Build!!

I have some awesome coral coming soon i have tried to contact melevreef on a sump from him but have not heard anything back yet. he has some killer sumps!!

Lmao. Can't wait to see this tank stocked

Sippin' on Gin and juice is the 1st thing that comes to mind? LOL
Should make that thing a reversed beer bong where you fill up the collection cup with beer, and it pulls it through the pump and you drink it in about 2 seconds!!! Doo it.

@ ColaAddict thanks!! She performs great!!

- So over the last couple days I have been thinking when my tax return comes if I should for our the money to just go with Radions! I could go with AI but I heard there penetration depth isnt the greatest and I was really pleased to see the performance and colors from the Radions at MACI. I want this tank to be RIGHT the first time so I dont go through what I did with my 55g What do you guys think? Is there anything Comparable to the Radions? I prefer to sell my 400w MH that are in the hood now to save money on the back end for electricity. I NEED YOUR THOUGHTS :)

There are options out there, but it all depends on what you are looking for. I think Maxspect and Radions have everyone's attention but there are some others trying to run up behind them. I saw the Radions for the first time at MACI. You probably are aware that I am looking for a replacement to my Mazarra modules. I saw them at MACI and I did not like them. They wouldn't work for my applications and I would have to have them setup pretty high above my tank for proper coverage. I've decided to just stick with the Mazarras because they provide more coverage than the two pucks in those Radions. I had to face the fact that though I have had some issues with these lights, they are the best for me out of everything that is currently available. I'm not interested in building my own fixture.

i spoke to the guy in st charles my wife and i almost bought these radions and the guy was honest and said dont do it or nuy one and see what happens he was pretty confident that they would not be good enough for the tank even if i did two side by side over a two ft gap he said id most likely have to move my clams from the sand up to the middle i had to pass

Thanks Walt I didnt know you were looking for different lights!

Geno- T5s sound great but the cost would kill me in a 210 wouldnt it? As in over the long run! And if I went with T5s there are so many fixtures to go with and bulbs are another. Ive seen some use no white bulbs all blues and purples. Will I have enough light penetration to the sand for clams?

-On another note Captain corals recommended the lights he uses with are the RFI 200. He said they easily gro sps from the sand bed. There are alot of options!!

-On another note as well I have emailed Anthony from Nano Sea Creations and he is currently drawing me up a couple designs for my sump/ fuge for the 210!!

Hey, when you get the design from Anthony, forward it along to me. I need a sump for my 180, maybe we can get a better deal having 2 made at the same time...

How long do you plan to keep your tank??? If your answer is forever, than DIY LEDS will be your best choice.. Because trying to sell them afterwards will be a big loss. T5s & MH will always have a buyer and won't be much cost up front.. ATI fixtures will rock your tank and touch your SB with no issue. But another 2 years the price will drop on LEDS and something else will take its place..

Hope this helps : )

Honestly, I'd just run the 400's with some t12 VHO's for supplement. You will be extremely pleased with the color and growth with good bulbs. Just don't even bother looking at your electric bill when it comes in. On the upside you won't need to heat your place as much in the winter.

@ fishbeard. Sounds good on the sump! I'm always game for a better deal especially when multiple people benefit!

@lilbambam I plan on keeping my tank for a very long time besides maybe upgrading even bigger.

Has anyone had any reviews on RFI 200w I believe they run about $425 or so and have been told they are great what do you know or think?

LEDs do not last forever. They have mtbf of 50,000 hours but they will not last anywhere near that figure for reef use. Probably 3 or 4 years tops.

As long as LED's are not run at 100% they will last for 50000 hrs. Dimming and gimmicks kill them (storms, sunrise simulation). I run LED non-dimmable fixtures and they are considerably brighter than my T5 ever were at my SB. I have a 150 with a very thin layer of sand so it is 28" of light penetration. And my electric bill is much lower.
