New build 150g Cube tank

Nice! This is one of my custom tank builds. Let me know how the sump works out for you, it's a custom one I had made to my specs.

Ya its a really good looking setup, the pictures i took have not given it justice, going to be a few weeks b4 i get it wet, want to hard plumb it and figure out how to darken the bottom of the tank, dont really want to paint it, how do i do that vinyl that they did on the back?

Yes you can do vinyl or go buy a black yoga mat, the weight of the tank with water should compress it enough that it looks almost solid black.

Well decided that I wanted a frag tank, and convinced the wife to let me get one. Picked it up last night placed it into the living room today, I really like the set up. Its a zeroedge 60g tank 48x24x12, also has custom stand and custom sump. Still have to clean it up some but wanted to share some photos. Thanks for looking!

Chit thats a frag tank lol thats nicer then most tanks i c

Pretty much just want to grow sps, at least that is the plan its only 12 inches deep, 10 inches the time i add the frag racks i have

Thats what i want to go with because hanging the lights would be simple with the tank mounts, just worried about coverage and if they are powerful enough. tank is 48x24x12.

i would think so .. but you would get two hot spots so you cant increase the intensity too much ( as this is a shallow tank)

would be perfect though if you add wide angle lens .. then your tank depth ( roughly about 8 inches or so after taking off the frag racks height and the water level .. would be perfect

I'd go T5 although I don't have experience with higher end LED lights. I think a 6 bulb would be over kill on a 12" tank unless you are shooting for par within the 400-700 range.

I have a 6 bulb ATI that I just took PAR readings on using one actinic bulb (low par) and 4 blue+ and 1 e5 LED bulb. Check out my build thread for my shallow tank and there is a pic with the PAR details.

Also, after going T5 I have never had better growth or colors from my SPS. Again, no experience with higher end LEDs though!

Took a look at your build thread, tanks looks great. I like the look of t5's, and have t5 and led mix on my display tank. The only thing holding me back from going with the ATI fixture (love the look of it) is that I am still renting a house and don't want to suspend the light from the ceiling. Also with the rimless tank i do not want to do a canopy. I am taking my time with this frag tank build, mostly because i feel i rushed my display tank and sacrificed some of the equipment I wanted in order to get it up faster.

Totally understand and thanks! It is certainly coming along.. Now to wait out the growth of these frags!

If you want a semi-easy solution to not suspending the light from the ceiling, you could always buy a piece of 1/2" electrical conduit and bend it to make a holder. (See my post #4). I spray painted it with a bronze finish to make it look good and seal it from rusting from the saltwater. I returned the conduit bender after making it so total invested ~$15 including the mounting U-brackets to mount to back of the stand.

Either way you decide to go, cant wait to see it!

You could do the new 48" reefbreeders photon v2 which comes with legs to mount to the tank. Then add 2x T5 retro kits, 1 on each side. My ATI T5/Led Powermodule will be here next week but you will have to wait to see my custom mount for it until the build is up and wet, lol.

Trying to stay away from the side mounted legs...I think it takes away from the tank too much. I don't mind the rear mounted arms... The ATI T5/LED is what i want....I just don't have that kind of money to drop on one lol.

Check out the E5 bulbs you can use in the ATI fixture. Get a 6 bulb and use two E5's or add on a reefbrite. Much better deal than the hybrid ATI fixtures.

That's a good idea. You can also take a look at the new Zetlight led strips that have a T5 adapter so they can be mounted into any standard T5 socket.
