New Nuvo 8

I purchased a 200w hydor inline heater. Should I run it on the intake or return of my fluval canister. I don't see any pros/cons to either. Just wondering.


Btw.. I see a tank upgrade coming soon. :). I'm just soo in love with this Nuvo.
 
haha i would do it at the return from the canister ..

when water expands in volume its heat is lost a little ..well in this case its just too little to consider but well

It probably doesn't matter, but I'd personally run it in the return because the return line is free of any particulate matter and debris, whereas the intake has particles in the water going into the canister and can possibly clog and/or stick the heater.
 
I took a trip to aquatica today. While there I tested my water. Alk 7, cal 350, and mag 1200. I'm pretty sure this is salt related. I just switched brands. Should I buy tech m, alk buffer, and start supplementing cal. I went from reef crystals to coralife. Am I freaking out. Could this be why my softies stopped growing? My sps are doing great.

Some updated photos.... I said goodbye to the Fluval G last week. I don't miss the extra 180gph flow. The Mp10 is doing a great job. As far as my last post goes; I've done a few waterchanges and realized I may overstocked a bit for an actual 5 gallons of water. Duh.. I really like how everything looks right now. Its funny tho. The Zs and Ps on the rack that are inline with the mp10 are nice and fat and the one mid tank are long and stingy. I thought it was water quality, but im thinking a light and flow combo is the key. I plan to add four more LEDs to my Jbj Unibody next week. Ill have to lower my frag rack for a while.

I have a bit of phos now that I feed a bit heavier. Ive been feeding Azox and im in love. It seems like my acans open when i walk up the tank now. I'm seeing better extension and overall better color... mostly in the birdsnest. I'm doing a gallon WC three to four times a week to keep my levels straight. Ive gone to Aquatica twice to measure parameters. After three days without WC and straight after. The results were pretty obvious. I need more WC or a dosing regimen. Dosing a small tank like this could be disastrous.
