Problem with my Chalice

No.. Well not one that I say out loud. I have been banned from naming corals lol. I named the fish and the shrimp though. The clowns were Ryann and Rhett (Rhett recently committed suicide) The six-lined wrasse is named Beau (cuz husband wouldn't approve of Rainbow. The shrimp is Crevette.

It looks way better. I am carefully optimistic. It looks to be regenerating skin. Almost all of the skeleton is covered again. We dipped in a Marine Melafix solution. We also did a water change and got our new protein skimmer. I haven't been able to get an update picture because I had finals all week. I will work on it.

This is what the old protein skimmer did

It looks like there might be some salt on that power strip. Not sure if you are using drip loops, but mounting your power strip off the floor with the cords drooping before plugging in, it will prevent water from shorting out the strip.

Not sure if thats what happened, just want to make sure you are aware.

I am aware but thanks. The problem was a the protein skimmer leaked onto a pile of rags and for some reason the power strip was sitting right on top of them. The new power strip is mounted on inside wall of the stand.

Good idea Nate, I attach all my power strips/electronics to the underside of my stand. Only problem i ever had is when my skimmer tubing blew off the pump in the sump and turned the roof of my stand into a rain forest lol (scared the bajesus out of me)

Fastrc, this is Nyckee's thread lol not Nate. I guess I should start signing my post. Actually most posts are me. That would scare the crap outta me thou

I have 15 varieties of chalices, the ones that I have do not seem to do well when I have them on the floor part of the aquarium.

They all seem to thrive when I have them suspended off of a rock ledge where 90% of the edges of the chalice are not touching any surface.

Update!!

This chalice is perfectly healthy now. We have no clue what went wrong or how it got better, but it lived. Now the colors are a bit different than before, but its beautiful now.
