SaltyScotty's "Gonna take forever" 220g build

A quick update

Well FINALLY got the controller installed and setup, not sure where I am going to put the temp and pH probe yet...but they are both in there...But here's a couple pics just to get some updated pictures out there. I know Im getting close...put some "live sand" and a couple live rocks in there so that hopefully the tank gets seeded. But we'll just wait and see!

And now my questions....

I am contemplating taking all the rock out of my biocube and letting it help get the cycle going on the big guy. I would leave the sand and make a frag rack to fit the whole thing, so that all my corals could stay in there while the cycle is going on.

Is there anyway to get that sand out without polluting my tank too bad? Would my fish get too stressed out not having their habitat? WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!

Dr Tims Special would help without taking out the sand. I really wouldn't do that... Stirs up too much gunk,

Well then you should bring your butt this way on Friday and see what the good Valpo country life is all about!! Having a bon fire Friday night and everyone is welcome to join, dont know if you saw on the other forum or not but Bobby and Ryan I believe are trying to make it. It is family/kid friendly, so you should make it happen!

I have my temp prob in the dt but thinking of moving it to the sump. I think it should be ok. It's all the display water going through anyways.

I have my temp and pH probes in the sump area opposite each other in the skimmer section. I put the temp probe right next to where the overflows fill the sump, trying to get a accurate temp of the tank water without having the probe in the tank. pH is the one you can see in the last picture.

An awesome update (for me that is)

Just put in my two (new to me) MP40W's on either side of the tank, kinda thinking about having both on one side and have them in sync, but for now they are opposite and out of sync. Very excited to see everything moving in there. While I was at it, through in a hermit and couple of snails so that something is alive in the tank...besides the algae growing on the refugium walls already...Anyways, might throw in the fish tonight when I get home and start converting my biocube into a frag tank...who knows...who cares...just trying to get there!

good luck man im starting to make a frag rack with all of the egg crate that i bought. have fun and you got any fish in it yet

No fish in it yet...might throw in a couple of damsels I got just to make sure all of my testing is legit and the tank is ok. I've built all of the frag racks already for the biocube...just been attempting to be patient and waiting for the 220 to be ready. But I'm already an hour over at work tonight...and have no idea when I'm going to get home, let alone get to the tank!

wow what type of a design did you do with the racks.

My rack I traced out the edges of the biocube, then cut the center out of that, plus I have a magnet corner rack already in there...if you can picture it, it is three levels, the "middle" piece is on some very short PVC which will pretty much be on the sand bed, the "outlined" piece is on longer PVC so its the middle level, then the corner rack will be the highest. Once I get to it I'll shoot some pics.

keep em on opposite ends, IMO, best way to go in anti-sync
