Float switch in ATO reservoir so that the pump doesn't turn on if reservoir is empty

Really hard to see but the float switch is between the stickers wave on wave off.

If you're looking for ATO's, check out avastmarine.com they have some really awesome pressure tube switches. I have two currently, and am probably getting a third for a third tank I've gotten tired of manually topping off. They come with a nice magnet, and also a fill tube holder, holder for the ATO pressure tube, and a third for either a high water level float, or you could use it for a probe. The nice thing about them is that they are able to be plugged right into all the various controllers on the market.

The only thing is you would need a pump of some kind. I've been using aqualifters for both of my setups. Lots of people don't really like aqualifters, but they're so cheap, and you can rebuild them so it's always good to have the rebuild kits on hand. My one is going strong and it's been 9 months or so now.

Edit: forgot the best part, no switches to stick, and they're not affected by snails. It's all based on a vacuum created inside the tube.

For the cost of it, it seems great. I'm going to look more into it. They are back ordered on the cable for the apex tho! :(

One alternative is to either build a breakout box, or buy one and then get the bare wire version. The advantage of doing the breakout box method is that you'll be able to also set a float in your sump for sump low/sump high or both, and do your own leak detector.

Check out the neptune apex forum for some ideas, and you should be able to find stuff on RC or google as well.

Little update:

Tank itself is being sold, the crazing was more then I wanted.

Looking into a 60x18 from glass cages and going to call old town for a quote tomorrow. Any other local places build tanks?

On a positive note, picked up the eshopps r-300 sump today.

Someone got PAID recently. I can't wait to see the new additions in the tank and up and running!! Congrats!!

lol Nah I paid up front! Pay day is this friday! thats when I order the rest! lol

I can't wait to see it up and running too and start filling it with coral and fish.
